Aaron Marquis: And then they find out is if he's killed in some sort of

Aaron Marquis: freak accident or something, then his brother doesn't inherit

Aaron Marquis: So then they put the dead brother in a car and jam the

Aaron Marquis: accelerator down and go, oh my God, look over there.

Aaron Marquis: And they're like, that's your brother.

Aaron Marquis: And it's this dead guy in this car.

Aaron Marquis: And he goes towards like a tanker or something full of gas

Aaron Marquis: and it explodes.

Aaron Marquis: And they're like, well, I guess that he just wanted to end it.

Aaron Marquis: meeting, I check on him like no

Aaron Marquis: one else has been on any of

Aaron Marquis: And I won all the cars and I was like, fuck.

Aaron Marquis: And I already had two cop cars because one was the one that I

Aaron Marquis: daily drove, and the other one was one that I was thinking

Aaron Marquis: So I suddenly owned six police cars.

Adam K: These are all like Crown Vics or something.

Aaron Marquis: Two of them were, uh, three of them were Crown Vic's.

Aaron Marquis: Three of them were Dodge Chargers.

Adam K: hundred and fifty zero zero zero miles on them or something.

Aaron Marquis: And so anyway, I took delivery all these cars.

Aaron Marquis: And so I parked them all in the condo garage.

Aaron Marquis: But what I didn't know is that

Aaron Marquis: dealer who was my neighbor, this

Aaron Marquis: guy that I, I had talked to a

Aaron Marquis: He had bought cars at the same auction, so he bought four cars.

Aaron Marquis: So in this garage, there were

Aaron Marquis: suddenly ten unmarked police

Aaron Marquis: cars.

Aaron Marquis: And the, the um, apartment place, they put out this email.

Aaron Marquis: They were like, we don't know

Aaron Marquis: what's going on because, you

Aaron Marquis: know, we had, we figured out a

Aaron Marquis: way you talk the front desk girl

Aaron Marquis: and they always change out the

Aaron Marquis: girls.

Aaron Marquis: So you'd get a new parking pass.

Aaron Marquis: I lost my parking pass.

Aaron Marquis: I have a parking pass.

Aaron Marquis: And she'd be like, okay.

Aaron Marquis: So she'd just write another one.

Aaron Marquis: So all these cars had parking passes but were not documented.

Aaron Marquis: And so the apartment complex is

Aaron Marquis: like, we don't know what's going

Aaron Marquis: on here.

Aaron Marquis: If these are owned by the city or what's up, if anyone can tell

Aaron Marquis: us what's going on.

Aaron Marquis: So we didn't say anything.

Aaron Marquis: We just moved them out one night and we put them on the street.

Aaron Marquis: But the street next to this apartment complex was actually

Aaron Marquis: like this rich neighborhood.

Aaron Marquis: And so suddenly, along this

Aaron Marquis: entire street, there was ten,

Aaron Marquis: ten unmarked police cars that,

Aaron Marquis: you know, and they had that

Aaron Marquis: rule.

Aaron Marquis: You needed to move them, you

Aaron Marquis: know, they would like you could

Aaron Marquis: see where they chalked the

Aaron Marquis: tires.

Aaron Marquis: So they kept moving them around.

Aaron Marquis: And so one day, this woman had obviously been waiting to see

Aaron Marquis: what was going on.

Aaron Marquis: And so I go to one of my cars to move it and she goes, hey, hey,

Aaron Marquis: hey, who are you?

Aaron Marquis: I was like, my name is Erin.

Aaron Marquis: And she's like, what?

Aaron Marquis: You own this car?

Aaron Marquis: I'm like, yeah.

Aaron Marquis: She's like.

Adam K: The second skin guy.

Aaron Marquis: The Erin from Second Skin.

Aaron Marquis: And she goes, what about that car?

Aaron Marquis: And I go, yeah, I own that one too.

Aaron Marquis: And she goes, well, what about that one?

Aaron Marquis: I go, yeah.

Aaron Marquis: And she kept pointing, pointing, and she goes, you can't.

Aaron Marquis: That's not legal.

Aaron Marquis: I'm like, yeah, it is.

Aaron Marquis: They're all under my name.

Aaron Marquis: And she's like, no, you can't.

Aaron Marquis: You can't have those cars and park them all on the street.

Aaron Marquis: I'm like, this is a public street, right?

Aaron Marquis: She's like, well, yeah, but it's, it's these are our homes.

Aaron Marquis: And I'm like, that doesn't matter.

Aaron Marquis: And, and so she just kind of huffed and puffed.

Aaron Marquis: And then

Adam K: Yeah.

Aaron Marquis: that went on for two weeks of

Aaron Marquis: them like harassing me every

Aaron Marquis: time I went out to go move the

Aaron Marquis: cars.

Aaron Marquis: And then eventually I sold them off.

Aaron Marquis: But anyway, mistakes that I made in

Adam K: I,

Aaron Marquis: my life.

Adam K: I don't know.

Adam K: I mean, you, you walked away with thirty five extra dollars

Adam K: that week, so not bad.

Aaron Marquis: I think for all my trouble and and scheming, that particular

Aaron Marquis: venture netted about ten thousand dollars in profit.

Adam K: I mean, that's that's a nice chunk of money.

Adam K: But the I don't know what it's

Adam K: like in Texas, but the process

Adam K: of having to buy and sell

Adam K: vehicles is like to have to do

Adam K: all the paperwork and stuff

Adam K: yourself.

Adam K: Just seems like such a headache.

Aaron Marquis: Yes, it was a headache.

Aaron Marquis: And I will never do it again.

Aaron Marquis: That was the last time I bought a bunch of police cars and

Aaron Marquis: stored them out on the street.

Aaron Marquis: And also, technically, Texas, uh, frowns upon people flipping

Aaron Marquis: more than five cars a year, and they want you to get something

Aaron Marquis: called a dealer license and all this other stuff, which I'm not

Aaron Marquis: Uh, because I remember how it

Aaron Marquis: panned out for my dad, so I just

Aaron Marquis: stopped.

Adam K: Okay. Just love your freedom over there in Texas.

Aaron Marquis: Now, whenever I bid in auctions, it's for cars that I actually

Aaron Marquis: want to keep.

Aaron Marquis: So.

Adam K: You're still bidding to this day.

Aaron Marquis: Yeah. I sent you a picture of one of the bids I made on

Aaron Marquis: The issue was, is I started I. I was bidding on this car a few

Aaron Marquis: days after my uncle had already put the the Chevy in my garage,

Aaron Marquis: so I had no place to put this car if I want it.

Aaron Marquis: So I would have had to put it out on the street and would have

Aaron Marquis: had to move it up and down.

Aaron Marquis: Up.

Adam K: There was a similar moment.

Adam K: We were living in downtown LA.

Adam K: It's like a one bedroom apartment.

Adam K: Across from the convention center is a nice little place.

Adam K: Uh, but because it was a one bedroom apartment, they only

Adam K: gave us one parking spot.

Adam K: But the garage was huge.

Adam K: It was, you know, modern place.

Adam K: They had a lot of empty spaces.

Adam K: So I went to the front desk and

Adam K: said, you know, we have two

Adam K: cars.

Adam K: Can I, can I just pay for an extra spot?

Adam K: I'm like, no, you can't.

Adam K: Unfortunately can't do that.

Adam K: You got to go park like four blocks away at this other

Adam K: unguarded parking structure.

Adam K: That's still whatever it was like something like one hundred

Adam K: and fifty bucks a month.

Adam K: So similarly, like to what you were doing.

Adam K: I just looked, I noticed, you know, I saw the sticker that

Adam K: they gave us for the that you put on your window.

Adam K: I was like, well, you can just print this.

Adam K: This is not hard to just buy a sticker online these days.

Adam K: So I just photoshopped, scanned it, photoshopped it, cleaned it

Adam K: up, changed the number a little, like just changed the digit.

Adam K: Whatever the number they gave you, put it on the the car.

Adam K: And then for the, uh, the

Adam K: clicker to get in into the

Adam K: garage.

Adam K: I just took apart the one they gave us.

Aaron Marquis: Yeah. And so what

Adam K: Yeah.

Aaron Marquis: the flip switches were.

Adam K: Yeah. And they didn't change it.

Adam K: It was just all zeros.

Adam K: I was like, oh, okay.

Adam K: And then just googled the model

Adam K: number, found it on Amazon,

Adam K: bought it.

Adam K: And I'm like, I tried to give you money.

Adam K: I tried.

Adam K: You're making me do this to you.

Adam K: You're making me steal.

Aaron Marquis: Mhm.

Adam K: Anyway, I only stayed there for a year.

Adam K: But either way, this is this is like one of those stories you

Adam K: tell her this, like, happened at G4 or something, where someone

Adam K: told the story about how they went to like a Whole Foods and

Adam K: they, they, they bought a whole thing of, uh, of bacon bits from

Adam K: the salad bar and filled it up.

Adam K: And it was cheaper than actually buying like a giant bag of bacon

Adam K: bits and like, that's great.

Adam K: Make a segment out of it.

Adam K: And like, but that's all I have.
