Adam K: You just let me know when you're all settled in.
Aaron: I'm ready.
Adam K: You're a hard man to get Ahold of.
Aaron: Oh, really?
Aaron: I've been in the same place.
Aaron: I've
Adam K: Here.
Aaron: been waiting for you the last twenty four hours.
Adam K: Here
Aaron: Right here.
Adam K: you are, off petting babies, hanging out with old friends.
Adam K: No time for this guy.
Aaron: Yeah, man.
Aaron: You really you really make yourself sound unappealing to
Aaron: hang out with.
Aaron: I'm kind of second guessing
Adam K: I'm.
Aaron: this.
Adam K: I'm trying to make myself more unappealing.
Adam K: The
Aaron: I
Adam K: problem
Aaron: think
Adam K: is, I'm too popular.
Aaron: I think your mic switched again to where you're not speaking
Aaron: into a microphone.
Adam K: That would make a lot of sense right now.
Adam K: Let me fix that.
Adam K: Yeah.
Adam K: Why would it use the Bluetooth headphones?
Adam K: It's set to the good one.
Adam K: Let me refresh.
Aaron: Doo doo doo doo
Adam K: I use
Aaron: doo.
Adam K: the, um, the fancy, uh, compression software stuff.
Adam K: And I, you know, I try to clean it up in post, but.
Aaron: Yeah. You're not going to be able to clean this up.
Adam K: There's always a chance.
Adam K: There we go.
Adam K: Okay.
Adam K: Check it out.
Adam K: I'm about to switch.
Aaron: Okay.
Adam K: How's that?
Aaron: Wow. It sounds like it should.
Adam K: Yeah. Um, so my my brother came
Adam K: over, dropped off some, uh, a
Adam K: saw that.
Adam K: Putting a new.
Aaron: What?
Aaron: Now it's switched again.
Adam K: Are you serious?
Aaron: Yep.
Adam K: That's aggressive.
Adam K: Well.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: MM. Okay. Two seconds.
Adam K: Let me fix this.
Aaron: Now I'm remembering why we didn't talk yesterday.
Adam K: How's that?
Aaron: It's good.
Aaron: You want to just cut the first part of this off.
Adam K: I am capable of editing.
Adam K: You don't have to tell me to do
Adam K: it during the recording, but,
Adam K: um.
Aaron: Could you edit the the beginning off?
Adam K: No, no. You're
Aaron: I'll
Adam K: just.
Aaron: remind you in 30s.
Adam K: Yeah. Is that what it's like to be creative?
Adam K: You just tell other people what to do.
Aaron: Uh, for me it is.
Adam K: I know, I know.
Aaron: Oh,
Adam K: I've.
Aaron: funny thing, I had a, um.
Aaron: I had to write this, like, uh, I
Aaron: wrote this thought leadership
Aaron: piece for someone else about
Aaron: that.
Aaron: Did you see that?
Aaron: You probably didn't.
Aaron: There's this ad, um, for Callaway Golf or something made
Aaron: by good, good golf or I don't know, I don't follow golf, but
Aaron: apparently this ad was it was parodying obsession, that movie
Aaron: that I also didn't see.
Aaron: But what happened was, is they're trying to show how good
Aaron: this golf driver is.
Aaron: And this woman goes to like,
Aaron: pluck the driver out of the golf
Aaron: bag.
Aaron: And this guy runs over from across the green and shoves her
Aaron: to the ground.
Aaron: And,
Adam K: Jesus.
Aaron: and from a very low angle, it's looking up at him.
Aaron: And it said and he says, uh, don't you touch my driver or
Aaron: something like that.
Aaron: And then and then it goes for
Aaron: the rest of the poorly made
Aaron: thirty second AD, it's it's him
Aaron: being weird amongst guys and
Aaron: stuff too.
Aaron: But they singled out that clip.
Aaron: It's like two and a half seconds long of him shoving that woman
Aaron: to the ground and provided it's not it's not a good look in
Aaron: isolation, but it's just a bad ad in general.
Aaron: Like it's not a good parody.
Aaron: Like I didn't even see the movie.
Aaron: And I know it's not a good parody.
Aaron: And it was shot on a camera
Aaron: phone and it just looks like
Aaron: shit.
Aaron: And.
Aaron: But everyone was up in arms about him.
Aaron: The domestic violence that happened in it.
Aaron: And, um, so I wrote a little.
Aaron: I had to write a little thing on
Aaron: it and, uh, yeah, you know,
Aaron: they, they encountered, uh,
Aaron: technical difficulties just like
Aaron: you.
Aaron: They probably had someone
Aaron: creatively yelling at them just
Aaron: like me.
Aaron: And yet here they are, and
Aaron: they're getting their
Aaron: sponsorships pulled.
Aaron: And to be honest, I didn't really look that much into it.
Aaron: I'm not I don't know what Callaway Golf is, and I don't
Aaron: know who good, good golf is because I'm, uh, I don't play
Aaron: golf, but whatever.
Adam K: Hold
Aaron: Are you
Adam K: one
Aaron: there?
Adam K: second.
Aaron: Hello?
Adam K: One second.
Aaron: Are you under arrest or something, or is the cops there?
Adam K: I think I figured out what the real issue was.
Aaron: Uh. Huh.
Adam K: Uh.
Aaron: Do you need me to repeat my Callaway golf story?
Adam K: No. But it did make me think of my myself.
Adam K: I watched a lot of Rivian R2 videos this weekend because
Adam K: someone had told me that Rivian is affordable and it is ish for
Adam K: a new car.
Adam K: If you wait for like, you know, the the basic one and it gets no
Adam K: range or anything like that, not going to buy it,
Aaron: Uh. Huh.
Adam K: just generally looking, but not one, but two videos, two
Adam K: separate guys explaining how easy you can fit your golf clubs
Adam K: in the front.
Adam K: And that did more damage to me
Adam K: being interested in the car than
Adam K: anything else.
Adam K: Well, then actually test driving it and then not wanting it.
Adam K: so.
Aaron: That's a classic luxury car
Aaron: thing, though, that's been going
Aaron: on for like forty or fifty
Aaron: years.
Aaron: Like,
Adam K: I get.
Aaron: can
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: you fit a golf bag in the trunk?
Aaron: That's, that's like the trope.
Aaron: And if they weren't like
Aaron: presenting it as a trope and
Aaron: tongue in cheek, then they're
Aaron: just disconnected.
Aaron: But
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: yeah.
Adam K: Which way did the the dead male escort legs go?
Aaron: Can you fit your toddler in the trunk?
Adam K: And can you put on that pet mode so people don't freak out and
Adam K: break your windows?
Aaron: The reason I wouldn't buy a
Aaron: Rivian is because the name
Aaron: sounds like a female, uh, uh,
Aaron: improvement device.
Adam K: Say birth control.
Aaron: Uh, I mean, it's a, it's a sex toy.
Aaron: Rivian is like, it's a sex toy.
Aaron: That's just what it is.
Aaron: It's
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: got twelve different vibration modes and it's self-cleaning.
Aaron: You know, like that's a Rivian.
Adam K: You are describing the car.
Adam K: Um, it was weird because, you
Adam K: know me, I'm a very tech
Adam K: focused, forward thinking
Adam K: person.
Adam K: I like new technology as much as
Adam K: I, you know, kind of make fun of
Adam K: people for being proud of their
Adam K: vehicles that are essentially
Adam K: just giant cell phones with
Adam K: wheels.
Adam K: I do like the, the nifty, like I
Adam K: get excited about that sort of
Adam K: stuff.
Adam K: It was too much.
Adam K: I've never actually driven like
Adam K: an EV other than like, you know,
Adam K: a friend's Tesla or whatever
Adam K: once and then, but it's just so
Adam K: overwhelming.
Adam K: How much is on an iPad now?
Adam K: Like it was just, it's, it's too much of a, like
Aaron: It's
Adam K: if you
Aaron: dangerous.
Adam K: want it is it's arguably more dangerous, like to adjust the
Adam K: mirrors, you have to pull over and stop, navigate
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: through a menu, ensure you're selected on the right profile.
Adam K: And I'm like, okay, this is too much in that direction.
Adam K: Like, I
Aaron: Well,
Adam K: don't
Aaron: you
Adam K: need all this
Aaron: know,
Adam K: crap.
Aaron: I already I always say this, but like, you can always tell what's
Aaron: going to happen in like the, the people's cars by what's
Aaron: happening in, in luxury and exotics and they're getting rid
Aaron: of all that shit in, you know, in the Ferrari world and other
Aaron: and like bespoke cars and all the stuff they're putting back
Aaron: in like switches and knobs and tactile things because the rich
Aaron: are tired of that bullshit.
Aaron: So it'll come back down to, you
Aaron: know, the lower classes, the
Aaron: scum class.
Adam K: Yeah. I mean, like, it's the thing of we're in LA.
Adam K: Gas prices.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Gas is insane here.
Aaron: Um.
Adam K: Doing the math.
Adam K: It's probably like, okay, well,
Adam K: probably getting up in arms over
Adam K: something like we still have a
Adam K: hybrid.
Adam K: It's, it's okay, but it's
Adam K: thinking long term and like,
Adam K: okay, just kind of weighing the
Adam K: options of.
Adam K: It's one of those crappy things is you live in LA, you kind of
Adam K: have to have a car.
Adam K: So it's like, get a rebate on it.
Adam K: We'll see.
Adam K: But it's, it's just too much of a cell phone.
Adam K: It's too much of an iPad.
Adam K: And, uh, you look at something
Adam K: like we've talked about before,
Adam K: but like that slate truck where
Adam K: there's nothing in it, I'm like,
Adam K: that's kind of more interesting
Adam K: to me.
Adam K: You know, something that my, you know, I can my solar panels will
Adam K: charge and it only gets whatever, thirty five miles to a
Adam K: charger or whatever.
Adam K: Um, anyway, I just wanted to let
Adam K: you know I'm, I bought some golf
Adam K: bags and,
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: uh, I
Aaron: You're gonna
Adam K: think.
Aaron: push down a woman as soon as she tries to grab you.
Aaron: Driver.
Adam K: That's the hope I sell.
Adam K: I didn't finish obsession.
Adam K: We started it.
Adam K: Um, I didn't like the part with the dead cat.
Adam K: That was upsetting.
Aaron: Well, don't spoil it.
Aaron: I might watch that movie in twenty years on
Adam K: I don't
Aaron: an airplane.
Adam K: I don't see that happening with you.
Aaron: No, I'm not going to.
Aaron: It's
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: like you don't need to go into it, but it's about a woman with
Aaron: bipolar, uh, ness, right.
Adam K: There's
Aaron: Or
Adam K: magic
Aaron: is that
Adam K: involved.
Aaron: really?
Adam K: Yeah. That's that's how it
Adam K: starts off is there's a guy
Adam K: who's kind of not really in
Adam K: Selly.
Adam K: It's just typical, you know, young boy crushing on a girl.
Adam K: And
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: then, um, he makes a wish and he's like, I wish you would love
Adam K: me more than anything else in the fucking world
Aaron: Oh, so there's magic.
Adam K: is
Aaron: Okay.
Adam K: magic.
Adam K: Yeah,
Aaron: I
Adam K: but,
Aaron: thought
Adam K: I mean,
Aaron: it was like
Adam K: it
Aaron: a.
Adam K: could be an
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: allegory, I guess, for bipolar disorder or something, but.
Aaron: I thought there was.
Aaron: Yeah. Legit.
Aaron: Like bi.
Aaron: She was bipolar.
Aaron: And that's what was happening.
Adam K: There
Aaron: Okay.
Adam K: might be a deeper meaning to the
Adam K: movie, but I was it was just
Adam K: like, I don't know, I'll I'll
Adam K: give it another watch sometime
Adam K: when I'm, I'm in more of that
Adam K: mood.
Adam K: Um, but I wanted to watch something.
Adam K: I don't know, I think I was already feeling down.
Adam K: I'm like, this isn't helping.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Let's watch the backrooms, see if that helps.
Aaron: Yeah. I don't, I don't need to I don't need to watch YouTube
Aaron: movies right now.
Aaron: But, um, I'm more concerned.
Aaron: I'm thinking about your Rivian
Aaron: and car choices that you're
Aaron: thinking about.
Aaron: I think the solution might be this auction I'm looking at
Aaron: right now on bring a trailer.
Aaron: It's a it's a nineteen eighty
Aaron: six Ferrari three hundred twenty
Aaron: eight GTS project that I think
Aaron: if you put a couple grand into
Aaron: it, you'd have, you'd be able to
Aaron: live out your Magnum P.I.
Aaron: fantasies and.
Adam K: Um, yeah,
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: I could.
Adam K: So just take it to Hawaii and solve crimes.
Aaron: Well, you could solve crimes in
Aaron: LA and by solve crimes, uh,
Aaron: solve the crime of who stole
Aaron: your Ferrari three, twenty
Aaron: eight,
Adam K: I was,
Aaron: ten
Adam K: I was,
Aaron: hours after you've owned it.
Adam K: I was listening to an interview
Adam K: from a few weeks ago where they
Adam K: were talking to the flock CEO
Adam K: and
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: how the whole thing.
Adam K: How he like accidentally essentially created Big Brother.
Adam K: And you hear him tell the story
Adam K: and I'm like, I'm just trying to
Adam K: come at this from like a, you
Adam K: know, a just trying to go in
Adam K: with an open mind of like, okay,
Adam K: how did this guy get to where he
Adam K: is?
Adam K: And he tells a story about how
Adam K: people were in his neighborhood
Adam K: breaking into people's cars and
Adam K: stealing their guns, which is
Adam K: also like, why is there gun in a
Adam K: car?
Adam K: I don't know.
Adam K: Regardless, it was like him and a buddy just kind of hobbled
Adam K: together, you know, um, some old Android phones and I guess like
Adam K: a Raspberry Pi or something and essentially created like a low
Adam K: budget, um, license plate reader because the cops told him the
Adam K: best way to catch someone is to get their license plate, which I
Adam K: relate to only because in my neighborhood, my neighbor to my
Adam K: right had their window busted in, and then my neighbor to the
Adam K: left got their window busted in and I was like, okay, it's only
Adam K: a matter of time.
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: Um, so like, it would be cool.
Adam K: And I looked into it and it's
Adam K: like a license plate reader for
Adam K: like in my mind to just
Adam K: thinking, okay, this is for the
Adam K: neighborhood.
Adam K: This is a ongoing thing.
Adam K: It would be cool to catch the person.
Adam K: There's no cops going to come by here and investigate
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: it. So it's like, okay, if we just, if it's someone driving by
Adam K: and breaking into people's cars and driving off.
Adam K: Yeah, get a license plate
Adam K: reader, set it up, all that
Adam K: stuff.
Adam K: Those are like two thousand dollars cameras.
Adam K: And I was just then I just gave up and went, yeah, whatever.
Adam K: Just check to see if my insurance is up to date.
Adam K: And I'm like, okay, that I'll just lay back and take it like
Adam K: the rest of society.
Adam K: So like, part of me was I had
Adam K: some empathy for the guy of
Adam K: like, okay, I can see where this
Adam K: came from, but it appears to
Adam K: have gotten out of hand and now
Adam K: it's, uh, a stalker network and
Adam K: it has grown, uh, beyond his
Adam K: wildest dreams.
Adam K: And, uh, he has essentially created a big brother.
Adam K: So yeah, um, Even the best intentions, I believe can, uh,
Adam K: can create devastation.
Aaron: Yeah, and you wouldn't need a scanner if you have this
Aaron: Ferrari, because your plates would obviously be Robin one and
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: you'd know what the plates were.
Aaron: Um, that's a that's a Magnum P.I. thing too.
Adam K: Okay.
Aaron: Uh, yeah, the, uh, I enjoy the flock CEO going around the, the
Aaron: media circuit being like, there needs to be compromised and
Adam K: It's,
Aaron: you can, you can see like
Adam K: uh.
Aaron: the valuations going down on his company in real time as
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: he's like, please, for the love of God.
Adam K: Yeah. It's that moment from Futurama.
Adam K: I don't remember where Fry's talking about how great the
Adam K: company is, and you can see the stock going down in real time.
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: It's like it's a people business.
Adam K: Zero.
Adam K: Um,
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: yeah, it's one of those lessons
Adam K: where maybe less is more and
Adam K: realize that you've created a
Adam K: dystopian hellscape device that
Adam K: law enforcement and ex-husbands
Adam K: want.
Adam K: Very much so.
Adam K: Um, and
Aaron: And who can blame
Adam K: yeah.
Aaron: them?
Adam K: And lifeguards.
Adam K: Former lifeguards.
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: Yeah. It's a good time.
Adam K: Uh, yeah, they were also I forgot about that.
Adam K: That how this, this thing sort of initially kicked off was when
Adam K: they, they tracked someone going out of state for an abortion.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: That's, uh, was that in Florida or Texas, I don't know.
Adam K: I
Aaron: It's.
Adam K: want to say Texas.
Aaron: Or maybe it's Alabama.
Aaron: I don't know, it's.
Adam K: I think they went from Texas to Florida.
Adam K: And Florida said, sorry, we can't do it either.
Adam K: Uh, and then just, uh, put him on a boat to Cuba.
Aaron: Hold on.
Aaron: I gotta give someone edit access to a thing.
Aaron: Um.
Adam K: Why are you telling me to hold on?
Aaron: Let's see here.
Aaron: This is giving them added access
Aaron: to this Callaway Golf ad or golf
Aaron: thing.
Adam K: Can we fit them in the front?
Adam K: The frunk of a Rivian.
Adam K: Oh, I hate saying that.
Aaron: Yeah, man.
Aaron: I and I, it's just, you know what?
Aaron: I also think at the end of the
Aaron: day is that once this thing
Aaron: blows over, like I didn't know
Aaron: what good, good golf was
Aaron: beforehand.
Aaron: And because I don't, like I said, I don't golf, but the type
Aaron: of people who golf are not going to give two shits about domestic
Aaron: abuse in an ad and they're going to be like, wow, what's good?
Aaron: Good golf.
Aaron: You
Adam K: When
Aaron: know, it's good.
Adam K: they
Aaron: It's.
Adam K: sober up and watch that video.
Aaron: Well, it's going to be like some
Aaron: dude in his sixties who's
Aaron: looking for any edge he can on
Aaron: the links
Adam K: Um.
Aaron: and he'll see the woman get shoved and he'll be like, she
Aaron: must, she must have done something to deserve that.
Aaron: And then he'll
Adam K: He's.
Aaron: be then he'll be on their
Aaron: product page within five seconds
Aaron: like.
Adam K: He's probably trying to figure out which course they're on.
Aaron: Yeah. He's like, That's Augusta.
Aaron: I think that's beautiful.
Aaron: He's like pausing the video at the point where she's getting
Aaron: shoved down to see if he can identify any kind of bunkers or
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: anything.
Adam K: What kind of.
Adam K: What kind of grass is that?
Adam K: Is that.
Aaron: That's, I think that's Kentucky Blue, if I'm not
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: mistaken.
Adam K: Yeah. Edward,
Aaron: But
Adam K: get in here.
Adam K: Look at this.
Aaron: yeah, you see this grass that's
Aaron: wedged in this woman's ears and
Aaron: nose?
Aaron: Is that Kentucky bluegrass?
Aaron: I think it is.
Adam K: We should go there.
Adam K: Grab the
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Rivian.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Uh, start
Aaron: So it's going
Adam K: her up.
Aaron: to end up great for everyone.
Aaron: Um, though the woman that got shoved down, I think, like crazy
Aaron: Maga types were threatening her.
Aaron: Yeah.
Aaron: Because they were like, what the fuck?
Aaron: Why can't you just take it?
Aaron: And, uh, yeah.
Aaron: And so then the people at I want
Aaron: to say again, I'm mixing them up
Aaron: because it's just a bunch of
Aaron: white dudes.
Aaron: But it's Callaway Golf and good, good golf.
Aaron: One of the one of the representatives was like, do
Aaron: not, do not threaten this woman.
Aaron: If you're going to threaten anyone, threaten me because I
Aaron: can take it, you know, like he,
Adam K: All
Aaron: he
Adam K: right.
Aaron: like he not only, uh, he, he minimized her while also trying
Aaron: to be chivalrous.
Aaron: It was pretty good.
Adam K: That's, uh, that's some classic white knighting right there.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Wow. And then they just harassed her even more.
Aaron: Yeah. It's like, why would you
Aaron: make him try and take
Aaron: responsibility?
Adam K: My head hurts.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Uh, well, I hope the thought leadership posts went over well.
Aaron: I think it just.
Aaron: I just got thanked for it.
Aaron: So, um.
Adam K: Oh. Well.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Good. I'm
Aaron: Should
Adam K: glad.
Aaron: be good.
Adam K: I'm glad that worked out.
Adam K: When do you want to put up our, uh, political ad?
Aaron: Let me put it up whenever we put it up this week.
Adam K: Okay, I gotta get the website done.
Adam K: But what's
Aaron: And the
Adam K: What's
Aaron: end of
Adam K: the
Aaron: this
Adam K: plan,
Aaron: week.
Adam K: Stan?
Aaron: Uh, well,
Adam K: You
Aaron: I
Adam K: want to buy
Aaron: need.
Adam K: some some ad spots for it?
Aaron: I do I, I need, I need some
Aaron: money, I'm gonna put them figure
Aaron: out some money to put into it
Aaron: because
Adam K: I wish
Aaron: I'm.
Adam K: you wouldn't quit all these jobs because I'm
Aaron: I'm trying to get more.
Adam K: okay.
Aaron: Um, yeah, the, uh, yeah, I, I
Aaron: think it'd be good to put some
Aaron: target some ads and, uh, and try
Aaron: and get some organic out of it
Aaron: to, um, get people, uh, sharing
Aaron: and, and putting out the word
Aaron: because that's
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: cheaper.
Aaron: Um, so yeah.
Adam K: Yeah. So I guess we'll make a post about that.
Adam K: Why?
Adam K: We made this
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: horrific piece of media that still makes me laugh.
Aaron: Yeah. That'll
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: be good though.
Aaron: It is funny how Greg Abbott,
Aaron: like yesterday or the day before
Aaron: said he's pausing spending on,
Aaron: on or he's not allowing any new
Aaron: flock contracts or something
Aaron: like that.
Adam K: Yeah. I well going like I've
Adam K: done very minimal research on
Adam K: this.
Adam K: I leave it to you, but I think it's just more of a way of
Adam K: mocking flock cameras and using a, uh, you know, some political
Adam K: unrest to get there because I, I don't have a horse in that race.
Adam K: It's I'm more just like, whatever Aaron wants.
Adam K: It's his state, not mine.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: I'm just this coastal elite, uh,
Adam K: you know, going around in my
Adam K: Rivian's.
Adam K: I just spit up a chia seed.
Adam K: That's how, uh.
Aaron: Therapy sounds like it's doing
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: wonders for you.
Aaron: All this all this self admittance and.
Adam K: Well, it's all just AI now, so
Adam K: they just tell me how great I am
Adam K: over
Aaron: The,
Adam K: and
Aaron: uh,
Adam K: over.
Aaron: um, someone close to me who I, who I live with.
Aaron: who?
Aaron: Uh, she found out that her the
Aaron: person she was talking to, the
Aaron: supposed therapist person in
Aaron: India really just kind of ended
Aaron: up being more of a life coach
Aaron: and, uh, was getting like, I
Aaron: think getting mixed up with what
Aaron: her issues were versus other
Aaron: clients.
Adam K: Oh, yeah.
Aaron: And
Adam K: That's a lot to keep a hold of.
Aaron: yeah, she's meeting like three
Aaron: hundred people a day or
Aaron: something,
Adam K: Uh.
Aaron: you know, and so it was a, it
Aaron: all quickly unraveled and I felt
Aaron: bad.
Aaron: But, um, I was like, this is the future, you know?
Adam K: Yeah. When you're your AI therapist, can't remember which
Adam K: problem child you are.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Well.
Aaron: But, uh.
Adam K: Well, according to, uh, was it makers of ChatGPT?
Adam K: OpenAI.
Adam K: We're going to have AGI like in six months.
Adam K: So, uh, I think what is it people say we're either we're
Adam K: all going to die or best case scenario, we're basically like
Adam K: the domesticated dogs of this planet while, uh, while AI just,
Adam K: you know, showers us with gifts and toys because they just think
Adam K: we're so cute.
Aaron: I really think this happens often.
Aaron: People underestimate how.
Aaron: Well, like people in higher positions underestimate how
Aaron: little people want to be told what to do.
Aaron: Like when it actually becomes
Aaron: real and someone's trying to
Aaron: like, even if it's beneficial to
Aaron: your life.
Aaron: If someone's like you do this, someone goes like, hey, fuck
Aaron: you, I'm going on strike.
Aaron: And then that's, you know, so we'll get to that point.
Aaron: I think like,
Adam K: Will we?
Aaron: yeah, I mean, even okay, so even
Aaron: with like the midterm stuff,
Aaron: right?
Aaron: Not to the briefly politically
Aaron: go here, but like, if something
Aaron: goes wacky and say there's like
Aaron: a blue wave or something and
Aaron: then, uh, Mike Johnson or
Aaron: whatever refuses to sit
Aaron: representatives.
Aaron: He's going to see like.
Aaron: And we will all be surprised by the.
Aaron: The amount of people will not take when they feel like
Aaron: someone's trying to tell them what to do from afar.
Aaron: Like it always had like.
Aaron: And it's surprising when it when it happens.
Aaron: But there is that element of yes, for the most part, we can
Aaron: be sheeple and, you know, have our flock cameras come in
Aaron: without us knowing and just all this other stuff.
Aaron: But at other point, like humans, particularly Americans and
Aaron: definitely the French, they're like, whenever anyone tries to
Aaron: be like, no, this is your life now there's just this revolt and
Aaron: you just go like, no, fuck you.
Aaron: I'm not doing this out
Adam K: So I.
Aaron: of spite.
Adam K: I called myself the coastal elite, but you did the thing
Adam K: where you brought up French people and French lifestyle.
Adam K: So.
Aaron: My last name is Mark key.
Aaron: You son of a bitch,
Adam K: Yeah,
Aaron: I
Adam K: I
Aaron: have.
Adam K: kind of box of trash with that name on it the other day.
Aaron: There's a bar down the street from me called the Marquee Two.
Aaron: And that's like.
Adam K: It sounds like a car that breaks down a lot.
Aaron: Yeah, yeah.
Adam K: It is
Aaron: Well, there's the grand
Adam K: Grand
Aaron: marquee,
Adam K: Marquis.
Aaron: there's the marquee two, and then there's the marquee.
Adam K: On on the way to the the Rivian test drive.
Adam K: Um, Jess is saying, you know, we could we could just speed this
Adam K: whole thing up if you, uh, if we just what if we go buy a two
Adam K: thousand and three T-Bird and you make it a project and make
Adam K: it into an electric car?
Adam K: And then she was reading all the problems that that car had.
Aaron: That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard her say.
Adam K: And I was like, well, once you get the smell of perfume and
Adam K: cigarettes out of it, um, I think, what is it?
Adam K: I think like the wheel locks up, the rear axle locks up.
Adam K: Um, the roof will just fall off.
Adam K: I think it,
Aaron: Uh.
Adam K: I was like, well you there's a reason
Aaron: Here's
Adam K: they
Aaron: what
Adam K: stopped
Aaron: you
Adam K: making
Aaron: here's
Adam K: it.
Aaron: what you'll have.
Aaron: At the end of the day.
Aaron: A car that can go up to forty miles on a charge with no
Aaron: speedometer, no radio, no locks, a roof that's half open and only
Aaron: rear brakes and no headlights.
Adam K: I did see a video of a guy.
Adam K: He took an old like a I think it
Adam K: was a Toyota, but like one of
Adam K: those old 80s Toyotas, uh,
Adam K: trucks.
Adam K: And he put a, uh, an electric motor and it only got about
Adam K: ninety miles to the charge, but he still somehow got his stick
Adam K: shift to work with it.
Aaron: Yeah you can.
Adam K: Yeah, I thought that was kind of cool.
Aaron: Well, you need to.
Aaron: So the electric motor needs to
Aaron: turn something, a differential
Aaron: or whatever.
Aaron: And you know, it doesn't really care what what's in between it.
Aaron: So if you connect it to the transmission, people with VW,
Aaron: old VW do this all the time.
Aaron: You can connect it to the transmission and you don't
Aaron: really need to shift.
Aaron: I mean, you need to put it in a forward gear or a reverse gear,
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: but you could put it in second or fourth or whatever.
Aaron: And the only thing that the only reason that you shift in general
Aaron: is because you can't have an engine that does forty thousand
Aaron: RPMs, you know, but an electric motor can do that.
Aaron: You know, it can do
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: whatever.
Aaron: So you can put it in any gear
Aaron: and then it has the torque to
Aaron: move it.
Aaron: So yeah, you can, I mean, if you
Aaron: wanted to and your car could do
Aaron: it, you could put it in fourth
Aaron: gear and provide you don't run
Aaron: out of RPMs on the electric
Aaron: motor.
Aaron: You could go four hundred miles an hour.
Aaron: But.
Adam K: But there's no. Does it still require a clutch?
Adam K: I guess is the question.
Aaron: Um.
Adam K: Is the clutch clutch isn't clutching anything?
Aaron: Yeah, yeah.
Aaron: You need the because, because essentially the clutch is
Aaron: grabbing the flywheel of the electric motor, right?
Aaron: So it's clamping on that flywheel.
Aaron: So if you're going to shift, you should disengage it so you can
Aaron: shift without grinding synchros in your transmission.
Aaron: So when you get that T-Bird and you start putting it together
Aaron: with its clunky automatic transmission, that was already
Aaron: way outdated even in two thousand and three.
Aaron: Uh, you can see how the torque converter and all that stuff
Adam K: It
Aaron: works
Adam K: was like
Aaron: with your
Adam K: a
Aaron: electric
Adam K: it was like
Aaron: motor.
Adam K: a Lincoln or something, right?
Aaron: I don't even remember.
Aaron: It
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: was just such a piece of shit
Aaron: that and people were so looking
Aaron: forward to it when it was coming
Aaron: out.
Adam K: Uh.
Aaron: But I say all this and we see
Aaron: this all the time in the car
Aaron: market.
Aaron: There will be someone like a
Aaron: Jess, but, you know, maybe
Aaron: they're in their twenties now
Aaron: and they'll be like, you know
Aaron: what?
Aaron: I remember when I was born, my
Aaron: my dad had this T-Bird that he
Aaron: would drive me to, you know,
Aaron: Montessori school in or
Aaron: whatever.
Aaron: Uh, and that'll be a car for
Aaron: them, and suddenly they'll be
Aaron: worth one hundred grand or two
Aaron: hundred grand.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: And because they made so few of them and they were scrapped and
Aaron: there's like so few left, but.
Adam K: Well, I hope not.
Adam K: It's going to make more of these David Foster Wallace videos.
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: Yeah. That's the future
Aaron: Well.
Adam K: of memes.
Adam K: Did you get a chance to look at that?
Adam K: Um. Infinite slot link.
Aaron: I did, I watched it for a little bit.
Aaron: I actually, I understand what
Aaron: it's I understand this is the
Aaron: early days
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: and we and everyone knew this is what was going to happen.
Aaron: Anyone knows that it's going to be on demand TV to where either
Aaron: it's a party format like infinite slop or it's just your
Aaron: own channel where you're like, I want to watch, you know, I want
Aaron: a Magnum P.I. episode where Magnum gets killed, and then
Aaron: it's just focused on the butler.
Aaron: The rest of the time, you know, like whatever it is.
Aaron: And then it just makes that show for you.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: Um, so with the infinite slop thing, I understand all that,
Aaron: but at the same time I was watching, I was like, okay, I'm
Aaron: kind of bored now,
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: you know, because it's, you can streaming on demand that AI
Aaron: stuff and generate.
Aaron: I mean, I can't imagine like their workflow and what they're
Aaron: doing because it was pretty, you know, it flowed pretty well.
Aaron: And the, the video model was pretty good.
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: Um, and the fact that there's a
Aaron: chat functionality and all that
Aaron: stuff,
Adam K: Well,
Aaron: like there's,
Adam K: I believe
Aaron: there's
Adam K: chat is dictating it.
Aaron: right chat is dictating
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: it. And to have all that incorporated in, I mean, they,
Aaron: they put time into it.
Aaron: And I was like very, you know, I was impressed by it.
Aaron: But at the same time, I was
Aaron: like, I'm, this is too boring
Aaron: now.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: You
Adam K: Oh,
Aaron: know, it's
Adam K: yeah.
Aaron: just.
Adam K: No, no, I'm.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: It is.
Adam K: Well it's also it's the, the
Adam K: flaw in groupthink is where, you
Adam K: know, I was looking at it last
Adam K: night, and there was one thing
Adam K: that was like popular where
Adam K: they're like goth gangster
Adam K: girls.
Adam K: And I just loaded it right now and they're still doing that.
Adam K: So it
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: becomes kind of insular.
Adam K: And it's just it's the snake
Adam K: eating its own tail and doing
Adam K: the thing.
Adam K: What you're talking about, where it's going.
Adam K: I don't even think you'll prompt it.
Adam K: I think it's going to be like a, it's what the next version of
Adam K: TikTok or Instagram reels is going to be, which is just, it
Adam K: is going to be this AI sort of content, like where it is just
Adam K: made in real time, where you're not going to actually say
Adam K: anything based on your browsing history because it tracks
Adam K: everything you do.
Adam K: And then based on, you know, the
Adam K: things you, your eyeball looks
Adam K: at for a microsecond longer than
Adam K: the other, it's just going to
Adam K: prompt it and just keep churning
Adam K: out more of that crap to keep
Adam K: you
Aaron: Yeah,
Adam K: glued to your phone
Aaron: yeah.
Adam K: or whatever retina installation we have next year.
Adam K: But, um.
Aaron: Yeah, absolutely.
Aaron: I mean, that's just the same with ads.
Aaron: Same with all that.
Aaron: Like
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: I should really build a thing that takes cookies and all this
Aaron: stuff and then, you know, sells it or, you know, sell it to
Aaron: companies of like, look, this, it'll target your prospective
Aaron: buyer with their name and their wants and stuff.
Aaron: And it'll get news because of how creepy it is.
Aaron: And then everyone will want it.
Aaron: They'll, everyone will want the
Aaron: woman being shoved to the
Aaron: ground.
Aaron: Uh, ad.
Aaron: You know, but yeah,
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: that's where it's going.
Aaron: I mean, that's
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: what it's going to be.
Adam K: Well, because I think how it
Adam K: started is so the, the tech
Adam K: they're using is obviously like
Adam K: server farms.
Adam K: They're not, they're not, this isn't on a, you know, fifty,
Adam K: ninety or whatever.
Adam K: It's like you need some pretty hefty stuff, but essentially
Adam K: mini max can do real time now, like on beefy enough hardware.
Adam K: So people were trying it on Twitch and immediately getting
Adam K: taken down because it just was like just Rick and Morty doing
Adam K: interdimensional cable and people prompting it, and I'm
Adam K: pretty sure not safe for work came up or who knows what, how
Adam K: many terms of service it was breaking, uh, that they were not
Adam K: turning a blind eye to.
Adam K: So yeah, it's just going to, someone is going to crack this
Adam K: nut and have the infinite, uh, Callaway golf ads.
Adam K: Um, what I would prefer is more, less of a chat integration and
Adam K: more of just pure randomness.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: But that's me.
Aaron: Well, pure randomness.
Aaron: And then maybe you mix in the
Aaron: targeted ads that no cookies
Aaron: can't, can
Adam K: They can do whatever they want.
Aaron: I?
Aaron: No, they can, but they have your name.
Aaron: I, I don't know if that gets that specific.
Aaron: I know they can have they have certain age things because for
Aaron: some reason my, uh, VPN or whatever it is, is set to where
Aaron: I'm sixty five years old.
Aaron: So I'm, I constantly get this.
Aaron: I get to see all the spam that they get, which is great.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: But,
Adam K: It's
Aaron: um,
Adam K: just German retirement homes.
Aaron: Yeah, there is a bunch of retirement home stuff, but
Aaron: there's also like, um, there's a lot of, I think I've shown you
Aaron: there's a lot of, uh, chair tai chi where it's like just thirty
Aaron: minutes in your chair a day and you can look like me and it's
Aaron: this Asian guy completely ripped and it shows him a month before
Aaron: and he has this like belly
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: and he's just sagging and he's like, got no hair.
Aaron: And then it shows him a month
Aaron: later, full head of hair and
Aaron: ripped.
Aaron: And
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: he's just like, just from spending, I think it's like ten
Aaron: minutes, ten minutes a day with my chair Tai chi.
Aaron: And then it shows some AI old man who's supposed to be me.
Aaron: And it's like, I've been using the chair Tai chi, and this is
Aaron: what I look like last month.
Aaron: And he's just got he's got tits
Aaron: and all sorts of stuff like
Aaron: that.
Aaron: And then he's like, he's got the
Aaron: same body as the Asian guy a
Aaron: month later.
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: Anyway, all that to say, you can make those targeted ads.
Aaron: I just don't I want to have the person's name in it.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: Like, hey, Aaron, you know how your prostate is enlarged now?
Adam K: It's going to be like, hey.
Adam K: One zero four dot six eight dot four
Aaron: I
Adam K: two
Aaron: know
Adam K: dot.
Aaron: that's what I don't want.
Adam K: Yeah. Uh, I mean, like, I'm looking at it right now.
Adam K: And yes, if someone like a, a cool company, I don't know
Adam K: what's cool anymore.
Adam K: Liquid death, maybe
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Pokemon or whatever.
Adam K: If they were brave enough, they would look at something like
Adam K: this and go, okay, um, allow chat to do whatever they want,
Adam K: but we want to buy a segment for like one hour and people are
Adam K: allowed to make whatever ads they want using our IP.
Adam K: Like that would be ballsy.
Adam K: It would be cool.
Adam K: I can't see anyone doing it other than Wendy's.
Aaron: Yeah. Because like, the places
Aaron: it would go inevitably is child
Aaron: porn, racism, etc., etc. and
Aaron: then you
Adam K: Good point.
Aaron: have to go
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: like, well, I don't know.
Aaron: It's the same thing with like the Callaway ad, it's you can,
Aaron: you know, do your apology and all that stuff.
Aaron: But at the end of the day, people are going to be like,
Aaron: they're gonna be like, God, Wendy's had this fucking
Aaron: nightmare of a thing today, man.
Aaron: I'm kind of hungry for a hamburger.
Aaron: You want to go to Wendy's, you know?
Aaron: And that's what it is.
Aaron: That's how it's always been.
Aaron: So, you know, brand
Adam K: Well.
Aaron: damage be damned.
Aaron: I'm sure you have a increased quarter anyway, but.
Adam K: Well, for a moment there, I thought you were actually asking
Adam K: me to go to Wendy's.
Adam K: And I thought you wanted to hang out, but
Aaron: No,
Adam K: here
Aaron: I
Adam K: we
Aaron: haven't
Adam K: are.
Aaron: been to Wendy's in probably fifteen years.
Aaron: Twenty years.
Adam K: No, I guess you got to live
Adam K: through their cool phase and be
Adam K: around long enough for their not
Adam K: cool phase.
Aaron: I mean, I could see their Twitter without eating a square.
Aaron: Hamburger.
Adam K: If yours ever comes out square, you let me know.
Adam K: I actually don't eat there often enough to know, but as
Aaron: Square.
Adam K: a kid it would be like you see
Adam K: the video, the commercial,
Adam K: there's Dave being like, eat my
Adam K: square hamburger and then you
Adam K: get it.
Adam K: And it's not really square.
Adam K: It maybe was a square at one
Adam K: time, but it inevitably becomes
Adam K: round.
Aaron: The heat.
Aaron: The heat rounds the corners and
Adam K: Yeah,
Aaron: warps the patty.
Aaron: Yeah, yeah.
Adam K: it just, it felt like a lie.
Adam K: And Dave broke my heart and my, uh, caloric deficit.
Aaron: This Ferrari is at ten thousand nine hundred dollars right now.
Aaron: It's got two and a half days left.
Aaron: I think it'll go for twenty grand.
Aaron: And it's got a clean title.
Aaron: I think you should get it.
Adam K: What?
Adam K: No.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Why?
Aaron: Because just.
Adam K: Does it take does it take unleaded?
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Okay.
Aaron: What are you talking about?
Aaron: Yeah, it's
Adam K: Like.
Aaron: nineteen eighty six.
Adam K: Oh, okay, I can, I can just put the cheap gas in it.
Aaron: Uh, no, you might need premium.
Aaron: I mean, unleaded, all gas is unleaded.
Adam K: Okay,
Aaron: You
Adam K: so
Aaron: fool!
Adam K: nine dollars a gallon for a car
Adam K: that gets six miles to the
Adam K: gallon.
Aaron: No, it would get probably fourteen miles a
Adam K: What
Aaron: gallon.
Adam K: is it?
Adam K: It's a Ferrari.
Adam K: What?
Aaron: Three twenty eight GT s in
Adam K: No. Oh, so it is the Magnum
Aaron: Rosso
Adam K: P.I. car,
Aaron: Corsa.
Adam K: right?
Adam K: Yes. Okay. No, no, I don't want this.
Aaron: Wait, are you looking at it?
Adam K: Google images.
Adam K: Not. Not the listing.
Aaron: You
Adam K: What
Aaron: need
Adam K: junkyard
Aaron: to go to the listing.
Adam K: is it in?
Aaron: It's not on it.
Aaron: It's on.
Aaron: Bring a trailer.
Aaron: I'm going to send this to you.
Adam K: Bring a trailer.
Adam K: Sounds like a junkyard.
Aaron: Have you never been on bring a trailer?
Adam K: I have not.
Adam K: Should I?
Aaron: Yes. You full house.
Aaron: You're gonna find that two
Aaron: thousand and three piece of shit
Aaron: T-Bird.
Aaron: Let me see here.
Aaron: I'm
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: emailing this to you right now.
Adam K: Okay. Why are you emailing me?
Adam K: You have text messaging capabilities, right?
Aaron: Because I'm in front of my computer right now.
Adam K: What you're going to do is take
Adam K: a photo of your screen and then
Adam K: email that to me through a
Adam K: hotmail account that I've never
Adam K: seen before.
Aaron: I thought about taking a
Aaron: picture, but instead I sent you
Aaron: the link because I think it's
Aaron: great.
Aaron: You know what you actually could do?
Adam K: What?
Aaron: You could buy an electric motor for five grand like they have
Aaron: the full kit.
Aaron: This is a transversely mounted V8 in this Ferrari.
Aaron: You could pluck that thing out
Aaron: and put an electric motor in,
Aaron: and it would almost be like, you
Aaron: have to find a place to put the
Aaron: batteries.
Aaron: You have to put the batteries
Aaron: probably in the front, in the
Aaron: frunk.
Aaron: But, uh.
Adam K: You you should not put batteries in the front of a car.
Adam K: It has to
Aaron: Why
Adam K: go under the car, right?
Aaron: go wherever the hell you want?
Aaron: It doesn't matter.
Aaron: It
Adam K: Does
Aaron: does not
Adam K: it?
Aaron: matter.
Aaron: You get hit, they're gonna explode anyway.
Aaron: It does not matter at all.
Aaron: And you can't put it underneath in a Ferrari because it's
Aaron: already too low to the ground.
Adam K: Um, so you would go to Florida for this car?
Adam K: Just
Aaron: Uh.
Adam K: sitting on some dude's lawn who no longer is a cocaine kingpin.
Aaron: Well, the cocaine guy got arrested and or shot.
Adam K: Gotcha.
Aaron: And now this is where actually
Aaron: looks like some guy's, like,
Aaron: little.
Aaron: His little, like, project garage.
Aaron: It looks.
Aaron: But to be honest, this looks
Aaron: like where my dad is storing all
Aaron: of his cars except his is in
Aaron: Texas.
Aaron: But yeah, so this guy, he's got
Aaron: this Ferrari and it looks pretty
Aaron: good.
Aaron: He's he's Florida man.
Aaron: So take that for what you will,
Aaron: but clean title looks pretty
Aaron: good.
Adam K: Yeah, I guess
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: I'm just.
Adam K: I'm looking at the rust on it and.
Aaron: There's a few rust places.
Aaron: But here's the great
Adam K: I
Aaron: thing.
Adam K: like I like the CD player from nineteen ninety three, though.
Adam K: That's pretty cool.
Aaron: Yeah. It's
Adam K: He did upgrade that.
Aaron: I think it's an aluminum car.
Aaron: So
Adam K: Uh huh.
Aaron: the rust would be, you know, not
Adam K: Huh.
Aaron: awful, but uh, but
Adam K: I,
Aaron: it looks I think it looks pretty good.
Adam K: I could smell the Newport from here.
Adam K: Oh,
Aaron: Uh.
Adam K: there's.
Adam K: Where do I put my golf bags in this thing?
Adam K: There's no room in the back.
Aaron: You need to probably get out all the vajazzling from the
Aaron: passenger seat that are embedded in the in the supple leather.
Adam K: I'm going to find some Quaaludes in the glove compartment.
Aaron: Yeah. Oh,
Adam K: Oh.
Aaron: yeah.
Adam K: Oh, God. I mean.
Aaron: You're looking at it and
Aaron: thinking about your future in
Aaron: it.
Aaron: I've sold enough cars to know
Aaron: when I've got someone on the
Aaron: lot.
Adam K: It looks like something I would live in.
Adam K: Not by choice.
Aaron: Well, yeah, you would eventually
Aaron: live in it after you lose the
Aaron: house.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Putting money into repairing this thing.
Aaron: I want to
Adam K: Restoring
Aaron: say my dad
Adam K: it.
Aaron: had one of these on his, like, little used car lot.
Aaron: I want to say.
Adam K: Uh.
Aaron: And his buddy Daryl went and did
Aaron: a bunch of drug deals in it
Aaron: because they were, like, trying
Aaron: to live out their Miami Vice
Aaron: fantasies.
Aaron: Um, and then I, I don't know if it was this one or it was one of
Aaron: the Porsches that got, uh, T-boned and cut in half.
Aaron: And then I think I told you this, and then they had to, they
Aaron: found another one and rewelded it together in half.
Aaron: And then as they were driving it to a customer got T-boned again
Aaron: and cut in half and insurance paid full for it.
Aaron: And then they just rewelded
Aaron: another one together and sold
Aaron: that one.
Aaron: It was like two different cars that were, were, uh, stitched
Aaron: back together anyway.
Aaron: Um, selling cars is a lot different in the eighties.
Adam K: Yeah, I'm looking at this website.
Adam K: They got some nice looking tractors that I could probably
Adam K: use to just have some.
Adam K: I have some work coming up I need to do.
Adam K: Do they sell?
Adam K: Oh, they sell that car that can
Adam K: drive in the water from the
Adam K: fifties.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: The
Aaron: The little
Adam K: Amphicar
Aaron: amphibious car.
Adam K: model seven
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: seventy.
Adam K: Okay.
Aaron: Lyndon Johnson had one of those.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: And after he showed guests on his ranch, his cock, he'd put
Aaron: him in the car, and then he'd go drive him into the lake.
Adam K: Sixties were a nightmare.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: God, the president just whipped
Adam K: out his nine inch hog, and then
Adam K: he took me in a death car that
Adam K: can
Aaron: So
Adam K: a boat.
Aaron: he drove me into a lake in this small gay looking car, and then
Aaron: steered the car with his cock across the lake.
Adam K: And he was just drinking from the bottle.
Adam K: He didn't even have it in the glass.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: God.
Aaron: And he was on the phone the entire time, having.
Aaron: He's talking to some tailor about his pants.
Adam K: The times they were different.
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: More paranoid, they would say simpler.
Adam K: Others would say
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: it's always been about the haves and the have nots.
Adam K: Anyway, why do you think orcas respect us?
Adam K: It's
Aaron: Uh,
Adam K: because the cars we build.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: That's why they don't kill us in the wild.
Adam K: Only if we trap them in SeaWorld for twenty years of their life
Adam K: and essentially, you know, put them in solitary confinement.
Aaron: I think Ferrari was past using
Aaron: whale oil and things by this
Aaron: point.
Aaron: Chevy maybe not, but definitely Ferrari.
Adam K: I think that Ferrari showed me requires whale oil.
Aaron: Uh.
Adam K: I think that's how you keep the the calipers going.
Aaron: I told my uncle Mark when he rebuilt the transmission on the
Aaron: Chevy in my garage.
Aaron: Now, he was really torn because
Aaron: he he didn't want to get rid of
Aaron: the whale oil in it because he
Aaron: was like, he's like a sucker for
Aaron: originality to like and like an
Aaron: autistic degree.
Aaron: And he was like, no, this is filled with and there is a cool
Aaron: kind of aspect of like, this is full of whale oil.
Aaron: Uh, but, you know, it was between driving it and
Aaron: preserving the mammal, uh, fat that was inside and he had to
Aaron: make a decision.
Aaron: So yeah,
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: but
Adam K: Well.
Aaron: here's the thing that I'm sure he's not saying.
Aaron: I'm sure he kept the whale oil that he drained out of it.
Aaron: And I get to find it when he passes in some like container
Aaron: where I'm like, oh, what's this?
Aaron: And I pull it open and I'm like.
Aaron: It's like some beluga whales
Aaron: entrails from eighty five years
Aaron: ago.
Adam K: Hey, you could resell that stuff for, uh, perfume materials.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Some some slippery Frenchman.
Aaron: I sell it to RFK for grilling.
Adam K: He's like, this is what I put on the men I hunt.
Aaron: Is that real whale oil?
Adam K: If
Aaron: And
Adam K: you
Aaron: he
Adam K: did.
Aaron: sticks his pinky in and
Adam K: If
Aaron: he
Adam K: you did that
Aaron: goes,
Adam K: in
Aaron: mm,
Adam K: front of Joe Rogan, he would say, that's too much.
Aaron: yeah.
Adam K: That's not funny.
Aaron: Sorry.
Adam K: It's like, uh, Jerry Seinfeld sitting with Kramer.
Adam K: Stop laughing.
Adam K: Stop it.
Aaron: So funny.
Adam K: That's not funny.
Aaron: Apologetic.
Adam K: Yeah, that's how funny Kramer was.
Adam K: He just needs to sit there.
Adam K: Stop laughing.
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: He's not.
Adam K: He's not.
Adam K: He's that guy you laughed at running through the door.
Adam K: I'm done doing, Jerry.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: It hurts to do it.
Adam K: I'm just going to watch a more
Adam K: mini Max videos of lost Seinfeld
Adam K: episodes
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: anyway.
Adam K: Okay, well, let's get this political post going.
Adam K: Um, we need to talk about the
Adam K: rookie script that you gave me
Adam K: that, um, I aged about four
Adam K: years reading it, thinking of
Adam K: all the work that would go into
Adam K: that, but.
Aaron: Yeah. I think, uh.
Adam K: We need to hire an artist.
Adam K: I'm sorry.
Adam K: I hate to tell you that, but we need someone
Aaron: Uh.
Adam K: who can, like, help create consistent characters.
Aaron: Yeah, my thought was like one.
Aaron: And I realize, like, I've not
Aaron: really written animated shows
Aaron: before.
Aaron: I've only written live action thing.
Aaron: And that was very much written, like live action.
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: Uh, it could probably be instead
Aaron: of thirty three pages, it could
Aaron: be eleven.
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: Uh, but the other thing too is like, if you hire an artist for
Aaron: that first episode, if you have that script, you just, you have
Aaron: them sketch out like just a few different, like what the
Aaron: background looks like, obviously character models and then just
Aaron: the overall style.
Aaron: And then
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: you know, from that script and then go from that, like there's
Aaron: certain things in at least if this, if this were actually
Aaron: being made in the first few episodes, there's like the
Aaron: apartment that's always there.
Aaron: The battle zones are kind of similar.
Aaron: You
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: know, there's, there's certain things that you can kind of like
Aaron: create set pieces for.
Aaron: Um,
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: but yeah, it's, it is one of those things where you just want
Aaron: to get someone making that those, what I would call I mean,
Aaron: they're essentially like a why is the word escaping me now?
Adam K: Storyboard.
Aaron: Storyboards. Yes. So.
Adam K: In the world of animation, at
Adam K: least to my understanding, a way
Adam K: of someone like, you know, gets
Adam K: their name is by their
Adam K: storyboards.
Adam K: So someone like Seth MacFarlane got his start doing storyboards.
Aaron: Really?
Adam K: Mhm. That's like, because you're, you're, that's kind of
Adam K: from my understanding, again, I'm probably doing a really shit
Adam K: job of explaining this.
Adam K: But
Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. You
Adam K: yeah,
Aaron: are.
Adam K: um, like, that's, that's almost
Adam K: more important than your script
Adam K: because obviously it's
Adam K: animation.
Adam K: It's such a visual medium.
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: Um, yeah.
Adam K: What you wrote was a movie script.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Um, not, it wasn't animation.
Adam K: So it's like you use that I believe, you know, obviously to,
Adam K: you know, sort of guide where it's going, but the story comes
Adam K: to life in the storyboard.
Adam K: So it's like, yeah, we need to hire storyboard artist.
Adam K: We need someone
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: who can create a design
Adam K: language, who can create
Adam K: consistency.
Adam K: Um, again, it's experimental.
Adam K: So it's like, yeah, of course I
Adam K: want to use AI and I want to
Adam K: like, I want to take what
Adam K: they're making, feed it into the
Adam K: machine, create a like an art
Adam K: style.
Adam K: Laura um, I forget what that
Adam K: stands for, but whatever, it's
Adam K: like, it's basically this is the
Adam K: rook style.
Adam K: This is how we do it and this is how we're able to turn something
Adam K: around so quickly, but it's going to require people much
Adam K: more talented than us.
Adam K: So, um,
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: yeah, I'm like, I'm happy to keep experimenting with it.
Adam K: And I think it's a, it's a great
Adam K: thing because this thing's never
Adam K: going to get made unless we do
Adam K: it.
Adam K: So.
Aaron: Well, yeah.
Aaron: Also to that point, you have to
Aaron: understand where like in
Aaron: production in general, whether
Aaron: it's animation, live action,
Aaron: whatever, like at every step of
Aaron: the way, people should be
Aaron: brought in who are better than
Aaron: you at whatever your job is to
Aaron: make the overall end result
Aaron: better.
Aaron: So like any script is okay, you know, a script has to be good
Aaron: and it has to be set on its own.
Aaron: But then you have a director who elevates it that much further,
Aaron: and then you have an editor that elevates it that much further.
Aaron: You have a great crew that you know is full of ideas that, you
Aaron: know, blah, blah, blah.
Aaron: But anyway, so same with this.
Aaron: Like you have to understand
Aaron: where your limitations are as,
Aaron: as a visual designer and be
Aaron: like, who could better, who
Aaron: could bring this vision to the
Aaron: next level?
Aaron: And also the benefit of, you
Aaron: know, giving someone money for
Aaron: creative as opposed to just a
Aaron: machine, you know, all that
Aaron: other shit.
Aaron: But.
Adam K: Yeah. No, I mean, again, it's like the thing we always say is
Adam K: you use it as a use the tools for to make up for where you're
Adam K: lacking in the, the budget department, you know, not the
Adam K: other way around.
Adam K: You don't slash budget and replace humans with the machine
Adam K: that may or may not be able to do your job better.
Adam K: Um,
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: um, we're currently starting at zero.
Adam K: Whereas like you look at any sort of animated project, even
Adam K: on YouTube, short little two minute, three minute video, and
Adam K: it's got like thirty five people working on it.
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: So, um, and again, this isn't me
Adam K: being like looking at this and
Adam K: saying like, oh, this is for the
Adam K: art.
Adam K: It's like, no, this is very much a commercial product, but it's
Adam K: our original idea.
Adam K: And this is kind of a unique way, you know, to just like kind
Adam K: of bring it to life.
Adam K: And I look, I get it.
Adam K: It's hard for people to read.
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: Reading is hard.
Aaron: The other thing that has to be kind of figured out with it and
Aaron: like, it's kind of a, um, I guess a stylistic approach and a
Aaron: narrative approach is like how I wrote it is, is again, maybe it
Aaron: was from more of a live action perspective, but There's,
Aaron: there's atmosphere and there's, there's, uh, story in the
Aaron: silence and in the, like the, you know, the ways, the, the,
Aaron: there's sadness and isolation in the silence silences and just
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: how he interacts with his environment, whether that makes
Aaron: a better live action or a animated like, you know, the
Aaron: other way would be, you know, some of the animation that we
Aaron: grew up on is there is not those kind of silences.
Aaron: I mean, there can be, I guess, an anime and things like that.
Aaron: But all the animation I know
Aaron: Futurama except blah, blah,
Aaron: blah, they're all strict
Aaron: comedies.
Aaron: And, you know, every seven minutes you have an act break.
Aaron: There's a joke every five seconds there's,
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: you know, and it's just, it's a
Aaron: completely different pace than
Aaron: what I wrote, which is more, uh,
Aaron: literary.
Adam K: Yeah. Well, because, I mean, at
Adam K: some point when null is like
Adam K: narrating the things he's doing
Adam K: or anything like that, like that
Adam K: would be taken care of by a look
Adam K: or
Aaron: Uh. Huh?
Adam K: a
Aaron: Yeah,
Adam K: subtle gesture
Aaron: yeah.
Adam K: or you like you remove.
Adam K: So the like, especially anime is
Adam K: a great example because they get
Adam K: away with so much by just
Adam K: holding on a still shot for a
Adam K: long time.
Adam K: There's this one, uh, moment in Evangelion.
Adam K: I forget if it's the movie or
Adam K: the show, but one of them, they
Adam K: do these long shots that are
Adam K: pretty great because it's, it's
Adam K: just like a lot of tension where
Adam K: there's just two characters in
Adam K: an elevator and it's going down
Adam K: for like five minutes and no one
Adam K: says anything.
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: And part of you is like, that's brilliant.
Adam K: And then the animators like,
Adam K: thank you for thinking that up
Adam K: my wrist.
Adam K: Thanks you for the work I didn't have to do there.
Adam K: Um, but I appreciate those things.
Adam K: Um, and then on the other hand,
Adam K: there's like, there's just been
Adam K: some really lazy animation
Adam K: you've seen where it's just a
Adam K: PNG and they added the, you
Adam K: know.
Aaron: Leaves
Adam K: Uh,
Aaron: falling.
Adam K: yeah. Just flat.
Adam K: No. No movement, no nothing.
Adam K: Um, and that usually comes from
Adam K: spending so much time on the big
Adam K: set pieces.
Adam K: And it just would be cool to find that middle ground without,
Adam K: uh, you know, having to ruin a Korean man again.
Adam K: I respect them
Aaron: Yeah
Adam K: too much.
Aaron: yeah.
Aaron: I it's again.
Aaron: That's what I'm.
Aaron: Yeah, that's what I'm talking
Aaron: about with the style is like if
Aaron: you're.
Aaron: I am fine with leaning in
Aaron: towards it's, you know, there
Aaron: are the silences speak the set
Aaron: speaks as opposed to, you know,
Aaron: having
Adam K: Yeah,
Aaron: to
Adam K: yeah.
Aaron: jam everything in into eleven
Aaron: minutes versus twenty two or
Aaron: whatever.
Aaron: But.
Adam K: Yeah. Well, like first, like the first thing that stood out, not.
Adam K: We don't have to talk about this
Adam K: right now, but, like, the number
Adam K: one thing.
Adam K: I thought it was like the opening should change.
Adam K: Um, it should probably open up with a scene from the r m z. It
Adam K: should open up with not
Aaron: So cold.
Aaron: Cold. Open.
Adam K: a cold open.
Adam K: Yeah, that's like related to
Adam K: another character like name or
Adam K: Raphael or someone who we see
Adam K: later that,
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: like, you need to grab the audience immediately.
Adam K: Like you need
Aaron: Right.
Adam K: that hook, that go, okay, well, whoa, where is this going?
Adam K: Whereas if you just start with null and like, even maybe like
Adam K: the way he's watching Rme's live, maybe that's different.
Adam K: You know,
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: um, there's, there's just different ways of, you know,
Adam K: it's an adaptation.
Adam K: It's not a, you know, a one to one, um, remake basically.
Adam K: So it's like.
Aaron: Well, again.
Aaron: That goes.
Aaron: That's another stylistic thing
Aaron: that I was kind of hinting at is
Aaron: like, okay, if it's an
Aaron: adaptation, you're talking about
Aaron: a what could be and you have the
Aaron: beats of a story, but you are
Aaron: rewriting, you know,
Aaron: essentially.
Aaron: So it becomes a scope thing.
Aaron: So are you.
Aaron: Are we telling a story similarly to the book?
Aaron: For those who haven't aren't
Aaron: reading it, but it's like kind
Aaron: of a faithful adaptation, if you
Aaron: will, that does, you know,
Aaron: you're essentially instead of an
Aaron: audiobook, you're getting this
Aaron: visual experience.
Aaron: It also has good pacing, whatever, blah, blah, blah.
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: Or are you taking this idea,
Aaron: this IP, its story beats its
Aaron: blah, blah, blah, but then
Aaron: redoing it all to then create
Aaron: its own interesting standalone
Aaron: series.
Aaron: Like because then you, you get into a whole nother world.
Aaron: They're like, and I understand that.
Aaron: And, but I also understand how
Aaron: that goes with you're talking
Aaron: about that could be to get an
Aaron: episode, right?
Aaron: That's a couple months, right, of writing.
Adam K: It's it's meeting somewhere in the middle.
Adam K: But, you know, my thought was Noel is a dog and he was brought
Adam K: from a different planet.
Adam K: And instead of robots, uh, he drives a taxi.
Aaron: You say that, but you know, there are similar there are
Aaron: similarities to taxi driver in this in how I, I harness my
Aaron: inner Paul Schrader and
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: no, but I, I mean, I'm serious.
Aaron: Like there is a, there's a scope thing of like, well, what do you
Aaron: want it to be?
Aaron: Because I know that if you are actually a. Yeah, maybe it is
Aaron: somewhere in the middle,
Adam K: I think
Aaron: but.
Adam K: there's certain scenes like for example, like in the, in the
Adam K: script thing, you, you put in the part where he, um, he buys
Adam K: the expensive letter opener.
Adam K: Right?
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Um, that's fine if we're going to call back to that later.
Adam K: Otherwise that is a, that's like
Adam K: a, that's an extra scene, that's
Adam K: an asset.
Adam K: And it's not exactly doing much world building where we could
Adam K: probably do more with less.
Aaron: Well, but then I would argue it,
Aaron: that's not intended to be
Aaron: callbacks.
Aaron: So it's not a callback thing.
Aaron: It is a world building thing up
Aaron: front of Noel's Laziness, the
Aaron: state of the world, like
Aaron: accelerated of like how, how,
Aaron: how much we don't want to be
Aaron: bothered.
Aaron: And, uh, you know, with I guess
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: with that, you know what I'm saying?
Adam K: Well,
Aaron: Like
Adam K: also
Aaron: we.
Adam K: like the way I would rework that rather than him pulling up a
Adam K: menu and buying it, he would just whip out the letter opener.
Adam K: It's the thing.
Adam K: And then a digital display, just like we have like a whatever,
Adam K: like a debit negative eight hundred, you know, credits.
Adam K: You just do that.
Aaron: Yeah. I mean, yeah, my, I was
Aaron: treating it as like a humorous
Aaron: beat of like, it's not only
Aaron: showing how like wasteful of a
Aaron: society we are, how wasteful
Aaron: Noel is.
Aaron: It shows how lazy and a piece of shit he is.
Aaron: And it's just like a, it's a
Aaron: beat of he can't walk across the
Aaron: room
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: or he can't be bothered to walk across the room.
Aaron: So
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: it's supposed.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Yeah. No, no, it's all there.
Adam K: I'm just saying like, from my
Adam K: perspective, thinking of it as
Adam K: like, you know, as, as the, uh,
Adam K: resident prompt engineer here,
Adam K: uh,
Aaron: You're
Adam K: that.
Aaron: talking about how you would put it into to animate it and things
Adam K: Just,
Aaron: like that.
Adam K: yeah,
Aaron: Like.
Adam K: like we would look at it in a
Adam K: storyboard and go, this could be
Adam K: much quicker.
Adam K: This, this has slowed down
Aaron: Sure.
Adam K: and it's, it's the whole Chekhov's gun thing where it's
Adam K: like, if we're going to spend a lot of time, if we're going to
Adam K: spend more than 20s on something, it damn well better
Adam K: be a callback later.
Adam K: You know this as a visual like viewer
Aaron: No, but
Adam K: of
Aaron: but
Adam K: things.
Aaron: but not everything is a call.
Aaron: Sometimes it's just sometimes it is world building.
Aaron: But here's
Adam K: Sure.
Aaron: what I would say to you as an editor.
Aaron: You know, if we went into the middle ground on that thing and
Aaron: said, just like he pulls up knife and the credits go away,
Aaron: then, you know, at some point you're just going to, you're
Aaron: going to be in the edit, you're just going to cut it because
Adam K: Or,
Aaron: you're like.
Adam K: or we need to come up with two other things so that it has the
Adam K: one two punch, basically like it's like, what are the three
Adam K: things so that it there is a, there's a rhythm, there's a beat
Adam K: there to the edit as opposed to one and done.
Adam K: This is wasteful.
Adam K: We have to like, this is like, it's just visual storytelling.
Adam K: You have to hammer the viewer with the stuff in a way that
Adam K: it's subliminal without it being so in their face of just showing
Adam K: it because you show it once, it will be forgotten.
Adam K: So to make
Aaron: Yes.
Adam K: it memorable, you need to show it again in a different way.
Aaron: Tell me about this rule of three.
Adam K: I don't know, I dropped out of community college, so
Aaron: I know.
Adam K: I bought a DVD copy of Swat and
Adam K: I said later, this is all I
Adam K: need.
Aaron: I bought a copy of Deep Blue Sea and said, this is my everything
Aaron: I need to know about narrative.
Adam K: Deep Blue Sea was one of the
Adam K: earlier DVDs I did watch, but
Adam K: the timing doesn't really work
Adam K: out there.
Adam K: I only remember Swat because the guy who taught the screenwriting
Adam K: class, which I didn't take, was the original writer of the like
Adam K: two thousand and three version of Swat with Colin Farrell, and
Aaron: Uh.
Adam K: he mostly from what I heard from a buddy of mine who took it, he
Adam K: would just bitch about how they changed everything that he had
Adam K: originally put in.
Aaron: Yeah, that's that checks out.
Adam K: Yeah. Um, and then, oh, because I, yeah, specifically, he
Adam K: mentioned how the only thing they kept in was at the end.
Adam K: They like, I think they land a
Adam K: plane on a, on a freeway or
Adam K: something.
Adam K: And so me and my, my young age,
Adam K: I think this was before IMDb
Adam K: trivia.
Adam K: I'd always go to like trivia
Adam K: websites because I just, I love
Adam K: movie trivia.
Adam K: And I submitted that as a factoid.
Adam K: And the guy who ran the site,
Adam K: because this was before it was,
Adam K: it was all, you know, it went
Adam K: through a gatekeeper, basically
Adam K: people who the web hosts or
Adam K: whatever.
Adam K: And he had put a post like been
Adam K: getting a lot of shitty trivia
Adam K: lately.
Adam K: And I'm like, I don't know if that was a subtweet at me.
Adam K: Uh, but that was the last time I
Adam K: ever submitted any trivia to a
Adam K: website because it was a true
Adam K: fact.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Um, it was some inside knowledge that I felt I had earned from
Adam K: the community college script professor, uh, and my friend who
Adam K: had taken the class that I heard the story from third, uh, you
Adam K: know, second hand.
Adam K: So.
Aaron: Well, on that note, I need to go work on a book that I'm writing.
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: Uh, I'm
Adam K: What's it,
Aaron: going to.
Adam K: what's
Aaron: I'm going
Adam K: it about?
Aaron: to take some of these things I learned today about rule of
Aaron: three and Chekhov's gun.
Aaron: And, uh, I'm going to put three guns in this, uh, book.
Adam K: Uh, you also have to remember to save the cart.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Um.
Aaron: Where is that?
Aaron: Where is my save the Cat book?
Aaron: I used to have it in my bag all the time for fucking executives.
Aaron: That that brought it up.
Aaron: I go, yeah, I read this book.
Aaron: Uh, it doesn't really apply to what you're saying.
Aaron: And.
Adam K: This,
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: uh, softcore porno remake of The Avengers doesn't really adhere
Adam K: to those guidelines.
Aaron: Whose dick is in the tree.
Aaron: I'm confused.
Adam K: Gerald Ford. Oh, wait.
Adam K: No, sorry.
Adam K: LBJ.
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: Yeah. Anywho.
Adam K: Uh, well, thanks for making the time for me, I appreciate it.
Aaron: Yeah. You're
Adam K: It's
Aaron: welcome.
Adam K: always, it's always good to hang out, you know, as friends.
Aaron: Yeah. Well, um.
Aaron: I'll, uh, I'll think about you
Aaron: as I'm on the university campus,
Aaron: and, uh, you know, everyone is
Aaron: looking at me wondering what PhD
Aaron: I'm trying to get, and I'll be
Aaron: like, um.
Adam K: Say, or what student you're going to try to strangle.
Aaron: Yeah, yeah, I try and like, it's
Aaron: when I am wearing like my last
Aaron: bit of laundry and I haven't
Aaron: shaved in a while and I'm like,
Aaron: this is I'm gonna get called on
Aaron: here.
Adam K: Take a bath.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Alrighty.
Adam K: Talk to you later.
Aaron: All right.
Aaron: Right.
