Adam K: All right.
Adam K: How's it going?
Aaron: Good. Good.
Adam K: How's your day?
Adam K: How's your week?
Adam K: Seemed like a busy boy.
Aaron: Yeah. I've been, uh, staying up late the last couple of weeks.
Aaron: Finishing thing and.
Adam K: This is for your, uh.
Adam K: Was it like Tinder for old people?
Adam K: What is
Aaron: Tender
Adam K: it?
Aaron: for old people.
Aaron: Um, it's probably I, I think I'll have it online this week,
Aaron: this coming weekend.
Aaron: Um,
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: right now I'm just doing UI, UX
Aaron: stuff that is easier to do when
Aaron: it's local.
Aaron: And then, um, I'll push it online and watch as Russia and
Aaron: China hacks into it.
Adam K: Yeah. You gotta get fail to ban installed, and you can watch it
Adam K: in real time as all the bots try to knock at the front door.
Adam K: You should set up a honeypot while you're doing this.
Aaron: Well, that's
Adam K: Um,
Aaron: what all the users are going to be.
Adam K: yes.
Aaron: It's like it's like honey dust.
Adam K: Yeah, you're your password is
Adam K: also your social security
Adam K: number.
Adam K: And if it doesn't work, then just email support, which, uh,
Adam K: goes to a telegram channel.
Aaron: That's the other thing too.
Aaron: I have support, like, it'll have
Aaron: to be one of these services that
Aaron: have just kind of basic
Aaron: knowledge of how the thing
Aaron: works, because they're just odds
Aaron: and ends that have to be taken
Aaron: care of if it's going to be
Aaron: legitimate.
Aaron: One of those things is there's
Aaron: got to be some Bangladeshi, you
Aaron: know, person on the other end
Aaron: that can guide them or at least
Aaron: confuse them enough to where
Aaron: they give up and stop hassling
Aaron: me.
Aaron: So, yeah.
Adam K: The, the workforce of people who are currently on standby to
Adam K: control the robots in people's houses or in the VR headsets or
Adam K: driving the Waymo's will
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: be just moonlighting for you as well.
Adam K: So I'm excited for you to employ the workforce at thirty five
Adam K: cents an hour.
Aaron: I didn't realize it look like when we were talking about all
Aaron: the all these people across the world will be piloting these
Aaron: robots that are doing battle for their, their country's prestige
Aaron: and, and, you know, diplomatic reasons, like, no, no, no, it's
Aaron: these countries all over the world just manning robots inside
Aaron: of rich people's houses.
Aaron: And that's, that's what the future is.
Adam K: Well, when you go for fiction, you're supposed to like, you
Adam K: take it to its most extreme.
Adam K: You know, if we wanted to write
Adam K: a boring book, it would have
Adam K: been.
Adam K: Yeah, the you log in and you, uh, you control someone's robot
Adam K: and you burp a baby and change an old person's diaper.
Adam K: But that that wouldn't be a fun novel.
Aaron: Now I can make it good.
Adam K: Okay. I guess, I mean, we, I guess we do need to do a sequel
Adam K: at some point.
Adam K: Um.
Aaron: Uh, I'm working on my book right now.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: That's the other thing I work on all the time.
Aaron: It takes all my time.
Adam K: Again, I can just feed it to
Adam K: Claude and say, write me a new
Adam K: book.
Adam K: Uh, there are some, some travel guide book or something
Aaron: Yeah,
Adam K: I saw on
Aaron: I
Adam K: Amazon.
Aaron: saw that.
Adam K: Yeah. I love when the prompts are just in there, which is
Adam K: like, and then I don't know if you saw the, the YouTuber guy,
Adam K: something green, Hank Green.
Adam K: He like, I think he like read
Adam K: his prompt in his video and kept
Adam K: it in.
Adam K: It's just.
Aaron: Yeah, I see.
Aaron: I don't know if he's if he's one of those dudes that does just
Aaron: like Wikipedia documentaries or he's like one of the outdoors
Aaron: guys, I don't know, they all look the same.
Aaron: They're all white guys with beards
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: or just white nerd looking dudes.
Adam K: Yeah. But I think like him and his brother invented talking
Adam K: into a camera or something.
Aaron: Okay.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: That's nice.
Adam K: Yeah. They have a patent on that and they get paid every time.
Adam K: I don't know, I was again, I
Adam K: called it when I did my dumb
Adam K: machinima slot video, but I was
Adam K: talking about people who are
Adam K: just burned out and they're
Adam K: like, ah, fuck it, just use the
Adam K: AI.
Adam K: And I'm like, I get it.
Adam K: If you're doing this as a job full time and you know, you can
Adam K: love pizza and ice cream all you want, but if that's all you're
Adam K: eating, it's gonna get old.
Adam K: It's gonna get tiring.
Adam K: Um, and also just being on the
Adam K: other side of it, just being
Adam K: like, it is a, it's a content
Adam K: machine.
Adam K: It's a farm.
Adam K: There's no like you lose the love for it pretty quick.
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: So I'm just like, yeah, I mean, not to excuse it.
Adam K: It's like, well, that's just lazy.
Adam K: Or again, to like, I, I still stand by the fact it's like you
Adam K: can make stuff.
Adam K: I use AI all the time for my video stuff, but it's like, it's
Adam K: because I just don't want to Photoshop stuff anymore.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Um, or it's like, oh, uh, before
Adam K: I would animate this video by
Adam K: keyframing it, blah, blah, blah,
Adam K: blah, blah.
Adam K: Instead, I can just like, okay,
Adam K: this isn't, I wouldn't call this
Adam K: art this, this crap that I'm
Adam K: doing, but it's like again to,
Adam K: it's just how you choose to use
Adam K: the tool.
Adam K: And if you're just using it to
Adam K: turn out crap for crap's sake, I
Adam K: get it.
Adam K: If people have like, their
Adam K: livelihood depends on you making
Adam K: a video about, you know, talking
Adam K: about missing chromosomes or
Adam K: whatever.
Adam K: But, um.
Aaron: The only I. I think it comes down to.
Aaron: And the only instances I've seen where it's caused problems is
Aaron: when the writing is AI, when people like writing.
Aaron: I think at its core is, is the, the fountain of all creative.
Aaron: It's like it's what is the hook, the written piece.
Aaron: Though anyone will forgive
Aaron: anything else AI wise or like
Aaron: synthetic wise, if the story,
Aaron: the writing is good, like
Aaron: there's this, you know, uh, it's
Aaron: this masterful storytelling on
Aaron: Instagram of this, uh, it's a
Aaron: J.D.
Aaron: Vance fat J.D.
Aaron: Vance, and he's always getting
Aaron: into shenanigans, and it's the
Aaron: worst AI slop, but they've made
Aaron: a character And I enjoy watching
Aaron: it.
Adam K: Yeah. And I think also it just same as before, it's like if
Adam K: it's just entertainment for the sake of entertainment, I think
Adam K: it's fine, but it's when it's trying to pass it off as
Adam K: something holier than thou or it's, it's LARPing, as I guess
Adam K: like a writer, if you just be like, hey, I can't write like, I
Adam K: mean, I use it just because I'm pretty sure I'm dyslexic, but
Aaron: Yeah,
Adam K: I
Aaron: you're.
Adam K: will write.
Adam K: I mean, you, we wrote a book together.
Adam K: You saw my really fucked up, uh, thought process of how I would
Adam K: write or rewrite it or whatever.
Adam K: So it's like I barrel through now, which is nice.
Adam K: It frees up the, like the thought process.
Adam K: And I, I mean, again, I'm still pretty disassociated or
Adam K: disconnected a lot of times, but like, I'll barrel through a
Adam K: script or a thing and then I'll feed it to the eye and go as I'm
Adam K: like, you're an editor, edit my stuff, clean it up.
Adam K: And then a lot of times I'll put stuff in there.
Adam K: I'm like, I would never say that.
Adam K: Like, that's you change the whole meaning of this, this,
Adam K: this, this doesn't say anything.
Adam K: It's like it can be used as a good tool, but it's like, yeah,
Adam K: it has to come from somewhere.
Adam K: It's got to start at a creative place.
Adam K: But it's like if you're just
Adam K: making a copy of a copy, then
Adam K: it's going to, it's going to be
Adam K: trash.
Adam K: So I mean, again, nothing that I make is not trash, but,
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: um, just, uh, I, I have
Adam K: self-imposed deadlines and if I
Adam K: could hire someone, we did hire
Adam K: an editor.
Adam K: I remember she was nice.
Aaron: Yeah. She's
Adam K: We would
Aaron: a hard
Adam K: never
Aaron: ass.
Aaron: And she was good.
Adam K: yeah, she would send us those
Adam K: really nice messages of like,
Adam K: your
Aaron: Rebecca.
Adam K: guys's book.
Adam K: She was great.
Adam K: Yeah. She would, she would send stuff of like, this is so deep,
Adam K: this thing that you wrote and we're like, is it?
Adam K: I don't, I think I don't think we meant to do anything here,
Adam K: but, um, thank you.
Adam K: Thank you so much.
Adam K: Here's, here's I'm sorry the check didn't clear.
Aaron: Mhm. Sorry we're late with everything.
Adam K: That was that was the guy I hired on Fiverr for literally
Adam K: five dollars plus tax who edited my my Overwatch video.
Adam K: He sent it and I'm, I remember feeling that, uh, that sense of
Adam K: validation where he's like, you know, your, your gameplay videos
Adam K: were so good.
Adam K: I can't wait to edit more of these.
Adam K: It's like, thanks man.
Adam K: I'll totally owe you, motherfucker.
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: You're just a stripper.
Adam K: Stop it.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: You're you're appealing to my ego.
Adam K: How dare you?
Aaron: I don't trust anyone who thinks what I do is good.
Aaron: And I never will.
Adam K: That's a very good point.
Adam K: I had a lot of fun editing that video, though, over the weekend.
Aaron: Yeah, well, it was good.
Aaron: And as always, it it shows just how elevated you are at your
Aaron: craft, that you can put something together that dense
Aaron: with that much detail as relatively quickly as you do.
Adam K: Try to.
Adam K: It's that other thing, too.
Adam K: I'm like, I do enjoy editing, I,
Adam K: I enjoy making that sort of
Adam K: stuff.
Adam K: I always enjoyed it.
Adam K: It was just once you.
Adam K: You attach a deadline to it Or
Adam K: it's like you have this like
Adam K: sense of where it's like the
Adam K: thing all the Twitch streamers
Adam K: deal with.
Adam K: Like if they miss a day of streaming, they lose like half
Adam K: their income or something.
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: I don't know, it doesn't, it never made any sense to me.
Adam K: But it's, it's nice where it's at right now where I'm like,
Adam K: well, if I'm making something, I want to make it.
Adam K: Um, the only, the only
Adam K: self-imposed deadline I ever now
Adam K: is like, I try and this is just
Adam K: more for to keep me, I guess
Adam K: somewhat sharp.
Adam K: I don't know, but it's like, do
Adam K: one blog post a week just as
Adam K: that's just doing reps, you
Adam K: know, it's, uh, it's walking to
Adam K: the gym.
Adam K: It's not even going into the gym.
Aaron: I don't know.
Aaron: I think it's going into the gym and doing one set of something
Aaron: and then stopping.
Adam K: Right.
Adam K: It's, it's the atomic habits,
Adam K: uh, guide to working out, which
Adam K: is just go in there, do one
Adam K: squat.
Adam K: And it's like, well, at least you got here.
Adam K: And then while you're there, you might think to yourself, well,
Adam K: shit, I'm already here.
Adam K: I might as well maybe do something a little bit more.
Adam K: But yeah.
Aaron: Apparently fifty cent goes to my gym, but I haven't seen him yet.
Aaron: And, uh, I don't know.
Aaron: Every time there's like a group of black people in there, I, I'm
Aaron: staring at them and they probably think I'm staring at
Aaron: them for the reasons why white people usually stare at black
Aaron: people in the South.
Aaron: But I'm not.
Aaron: I'm there.
Aaron: I'm their ally.
Aaron: But also I'm just looking for
Aaron: fifty cent and I haven't seen
Aaron: him yet.
Adam K: As long as you don't have your phone out and you're asking
Adam K: questions a mile a minute at a high, high pitched tone, I think
Adam K: you'll be okay.
Aaron: No, I don't have my phone out, but I do yell across the gym,
Aaron: which one of y'all's fifty cent?
Aaron: And, uh, I usually don't have my glasses on or anything, so.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: It's
Adam K: That's
Aaron: going alright,
Adam K: okay.
Aaron: I think they're.
Adam K: Yeah. Have
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: you have you thought about my
Adam K: proposal of getting your eyes
Adam K: fixed?
Aaron: Uh, I have thought about it,
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: and, uh, I forgot about it again.
Adam K: That's good.
Adam K: Don't.
Adam K: Don't do things I suggest for you.
Aaron: I've got other things I got to spend money on at the moment.
Adam K: I know.
Aaron: There's, like, so many things, and my eyes are so low on the
Aaron: list of priorities.
Adam K: Well, we're going to fix our
Adam K: teeth with some weird gel that
Adam K: we're going to start rubbing on
Adam K: ourselves.
Aaron: I've
Adam K: And then,
Aaron: been doing
Adam K: uh,
Aaron: that.
Aaron: Yeah,
Adam K: um,
Aaron: that I've actually been
Adam K: with
Aaron: doing.
Adam K: that new AI video model, people
Adam K: are making new episodes of
Adam K: Seinfeld, and they're pretty
Adam K: unhinged.
Aaron: What?
Adam K: Uh. Well, so this thing I, I sent you some of those clips.
Adam K: I was like, fucking around with it.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Um, what's nice about this one?
Adam K: It's called mini Max H three.
Adam K: I think
Aaron: It's another minimax model.
Adam K: it's
Aaron: Minimax.
Adam K: an was that one I don't I'm not familiar with it.
Adam K: Um, I just, you know, it's
Adam K: always exciting when a new like
Adam K: tool comes out, you get to play
Adam K: with it.
Adam K: But
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: this one's open so you can
Adam K: download it and run it locally
Adam K: on
Aaron: What?
Adam K: your.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: Well, there's there's no way you can.
Aaron: It probably takes for fucking ever, huh?
Adam K: So yes and no. I ran a couple
Adam K: tests today, so it's really good
Adam K: at animation.
Adam K: And this is
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: this is one of those things that like, I mean, again, I know
Adam K: there's like the sanctity of animation, but then I'm like,
Adam K: well, how this is, this has been going on for a while where you
Adam K: have artists drawing the scene and then they send it to Korea,
Aaron: Right.
Adam K: which in this is now just the AI, I guess
Aaron: Simpsons.
Adam K: in this.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Yes, basically.
Adam K: And then that animation is sent back and then it's cleaned up by
Adam K: someone who makes two hundred grand a year, um,
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: until they're, you know, let go.
Adam K: But so like, I never thought it
Adam K: was like a, you know, a
Adam K: prestigious line of work to
Adam K: begin with.
Adam K: And I'm not a fan of putting, you know, animators out of work.
Adam K: Um, we, we live, we live seeing that for years.
Adam K: Um.
Aaron: Two hundred thousand dollars.
Aaron: That's them working for twenty years.
Adam K: Well, yeah, I was talking more
Adam K: of like someone at like a Disney
Adam K: or maybe Warner Brothers, I
Adam K: don't know.
Adam K: Either way it
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: again.
Adam K: Artists and animators are, I believe, the unsung heroes of
Adam K: the entertainment industry.
Adam K: And they're just no one treats
Adam K: them the way they should be
Adam K: treated.
Adam K: Same with like 3D artists and animation.
Adam K: Any.
Adam K: Anyway, what
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: I what excites me about this is somebody who.
Adam K: Like they could basically come
Adam K: up with their own art style, and
Adam K: then they can animate their own
Adam K: thing and put out their own
Adam K: movie.
Adam K: And
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: so it's, it's like they couldn't afford to hire the, the Korean
Adam K: animators to begin with.
Adam K: Like, that's a cool idea.
Adam K: But the problem is AI is just been so bastardized and sullied.
Adam K: It's just like, I imagine if you
Adam K: try to convince any kind of like
Adam K: independent artist or animator
Adam K: to like, do their own thing,
Adam K: they'd be like, well, no, it's
Adam K: AI.
Adam K: AI is evil and I will kill you now.
Adam K: So probably won't happen.
Adam K: But a man can dream.
Aaron: I was asking you.
Aaron: Well, I agree with all this, but
Aaron: I was asked about what kind of
Aaron: processing this thing takes on
Aaron: your machine.
Aaron: And if it's difficult, is it I
Aaron: mean, is it is it killing your
Aaron: RTX three thousand ninety or
Aaron: whatever you.
Aaron: I don't know what you have.
Adam K: I got thirty nine.
Adam K: Yeah, I got, I got my twenty four gigs.
Adam K: I, I got in at the right at the cutoff point I, I up,
Aaron: I.
Adam K: I got one hundred and twenty eight gigs of Ddr5 ram in there
Adam K: before the prices shot up.
Adam K: I don't know why I just some Nostradamus ink.
Adam K: That's my spider sense.
Adam K: Just like, hey, when prices are
Adam K: going to go up, you should buy
Adam K: this shit.
Adam K: Um but no I, so I ran one test
Adam K: at like low res and it was like,
Adam K: I think like three sixty P or
Adam K: something like
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: that.
Adam K: That only took like seven minutes for a five second scene.
Aaron: Really.
Adam K: Yeah. And it's pretty good.
Adam K: It's just blurry.
Adam K: It's not great.
Aaron: So
Adam K: So.
Aaron: basically this is going to be HD in a year.
Adam K: Well, so I did, I ran an HD test.
Adam K: I got it in ten eighty and it took forty minutes
Aaron: Okay.
Adam K: and it added extra artifacts and did all this other stuff.
Adam K: But I'm like, I'm just doing,
Adam K: I'm working on something that's
Adam K: like, yeah, this is kind of just
Adam K: for me.
Adam K: I don't know, I want to mess around with it just to see if I
Adam K: could do this.
Adam K: But, um, yeah, you can also just run it on a cloud server, you
Adam K: know, someone else's gear and it will kick out a 1080p animated
Adam K: scene in no time.
Aaron: Oh. So yeah, you run it on uh.
Aaron: Oh yeah.
Aaron: Name one.
Aaron: Okay.
Aaron: You
Adam K: Run
Aaron: could deploy
Adam K: pod
Aaron: it basically.
Adam K: or
Aaron: Yeah,
Adam K: yeah, anything
Aaron: yeah.
Adam K: like that so that it's exciting
Adam K: just because I'm like, oh, cool,
Adam K: this democratizes people's
Adam K: workflows.
Adam K: But again, it's, I know the, the
Adam K: stink that AI has attached to it
Adam K: and just all the like, obviously
Adam K: the stuff was trained on
Adam K: people's work.
Adam K: Um, I saw the thing where people
Adam K: authors are suing, was it, uh,
Adam K: anthropic?
Adam K: And I was like, oh, maybe we can get in on that.
Adam K: And then we
Aaron: Get
Adam K: look
Aaron: our
Adam K: and
Aaron: settlement.
Adam K: I was going to say, we, we look
Adam K: into it and they're like, we try
Adam K: to sue them, but they say, no,
Adam K: we, we actively did not scan
Adam K: your book.
Adam K: We
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: didn't we didn't want anything
Aaron: We
Adam K: to
Aaron: already
Adam K: do with
Aaron: had
Adam K: it.
Aaron: AI developed to to know what are bad books to skip.
Aaron: That was the first thing that we found.
Adam K: That was that was an old SNL sketch where it's all the
Adam K: artists suing Napster.
Adam K: And it was just an excuse for
Adam K: people to do impressions of
Adam K: artists.
Adam K: And Conan O'Brien is playing right, said Fred.
Adam K: And then the judge goes, uh, well, according to our records,
Adam K: your song I'm Too Sexy has been downloaded exactly zero times.
Adam K: He's like.
Adam K: He's like, okay.
Adam K: Was it like a sandwich or something?
Adam K: I can get here.
Adam K: Uh, anyway.
Adam K: Nothing's original.
Adam K: We're just circling the drain.
Aaron: Can you?
Aaron: How so?
Aaron: When?
Aaron: So you ran it locally.
Aaron: How did you use the.
Aaron: Was there a UI for it?
Adam K: Yeah. He's comfy.
Adam K: UI
Aaron: Okay.
Adam K: that I hate that that's sort of become the, the standard because
Adam K: it's all those nodes.
Adam K: It's the spaghetti thing.
Adam K: And it's, it's, it's hard to keep up with it.
Adam K: And I, I, so I kind of fall out of favor with it typically, but,
Adam K: uh, people will make workflows that are easier, you know, to,
Adam K: to follow sometimes.
Adam K: But then some people are like, I made a free thing and you look
Adam K: at it and it's just, it looks like Spider-Man just splurged
Adam K: all over your screen.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: So I don't know.
Adam K: But yeah, so the workflow, I was actually just doing this right
Adam K: before we jumped on here.
Adam K: Um, which so someone came up
Adam K: with an idea of, I guess they
Adam K: didn't come up with this idea,
Adam K: but you use minimax for the
Adam K: animation, which it does great
Adam K: animation and like pretty
Adam K: passable stuff.
Adam K: And you do it at a low resolution and then you upscale
Adam K: it with another video model, which will go much faster.
Adam K: And it's supposed to increase your.
Aaron: Topaz or whatever.
Adam K: Uh, the well, there's like light
Adam K: and there's wan or something
Adam K: like that.
Adam K: Um, again, like I'm always just looking at this stuff from
Adam K: usually from afar.
Adam K: And then every once in a while I'll, I'll like, all right, I'll
Adam K: download eighty gigs worth of checkpoints and models and, and
Adam K: give it a try once and then forget about it.
Adam K: But um, yeah, I'm gonna try up raising it and just see again,
Adam K: just testing all this stuff just to see what you can do with it.
Adam K: But man, if you can just start animating, having your stuff
Adam K: like animated, like the dumb, shitty stuff that I'm doing,
Adam K: like, yeah, that would save me fifty bucks every few months
Adam K: that I keep giving to the, the comfy UI subscription plan.
Adam K: That would be nice.
Aaron: And really, again, if you have a
Aaron: good script, like something that
Aaron: is engaging and is interesting
Aaron: and it's ultimately the writing
Aaron: is good.
Aaron: It, it, it's okay.
Aaron: Like it's fine.
Aaron: Like people, I think they forget about that shit.
Aaron: It's when it's just lazy when it's a prop, God damn it.
Aaron: Mika brought home this like this
Aaron: oil diffuser and it's just been
Aaron: killing my.
Adam K: Oh,
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: they're going to say like, she,
Adam K: she had a conference in Michigan
Adam K: and came back with a bunch of
Adam K: iceberg lettuce.
Adam K: And it's just, it's the worst.
Aaron: No, there's none of that.
Aaron: There's.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: We. We avoid most.
Aaron: We're into cabbage mostly here.
Aaron: Kimchi.
Aaron: Cabbage.
Aaron: But.
Adam K: I only eat salad that comes in a big tub of plastic.
Adam K: Hey, I need to run real quick.
Adam K: Be right back.
Adam K: Just need to grab.
Adam K: Get something out of the oven.
Adam K: Give me
Aaron: Watch
Adam K: two
Aaron: this.
Adam K: seconds.
Aaron: Watch this Seinfeld episode.
Aaron: Let's
Adam K: Keep
Aaron: see
Adam K: talking.
Aaron: the mini max.
Aaron: Oh, sick.
Aaron: Maybe we're just doomed to watch
Aaron: Seinfeld reruns until we all
Aaron: fucking die.
Aaron: Oh my God.
Aaron: You know, if anyone's going to make money from
Adam K: I don't edit these
Aaron: all
Adam K: things.
Aaron: of this Seinfeld shit, I.
Adam K: Did you watch it yet?
Aaron: I'm watching this one.
Aaron: Someone like they it says their
Aaron: own script from the early two
Aaron: thousand.
Aaron: And they used mini max to, um, to put it together.
Aaron: And it looks like the first three minutes of an episode.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: And I'm just thinking like, is
Aaron: Seinfeld and his and his
Aaron: offspring.
Aaron: Are they just going to make billions of dollars until the
Aaron: end of time?
Aaron: Because all there is is Seinfeld to watch.
Aaron: It just keeps getting bought and
Aaron: redistributed forever and ever
Aaron: and ever.
Aaron: Like this this nineties show
Aaron: that's like, really there were
Aaron: like three, okay, there's like
Aaron: four good seasons of this
Aaron: because the first two or three
Aaron: are like, what the fuck is going
Aaron: on here?
Aaron: This is slow.
Aaron: And, and the first season was like four episodes.
Aaron: But like, I Seinfeld's fine.
Aaron: It's, it's, it's good, but it can't be the only content for
Aaron: until the end of time.
Aaron: And I think that's what's happening.
Adam K: It feels that way.
Adam K: But with this stuff, people, what they're doing is it's it's
Adam K: completely open and free.
Adam K: So again, it's stolen content.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: So but then it doesn't matter
Adam K: because people still stream
Adam K: stuff.
Adam K: People still rent DVDs from Redbox like
Aaron: Spider-Man
Adam K: there were,
Aaron: just made a trillion dollars
Adam K: right?
Aaron: over the weekend.
Adam K: Yeah. And I guarantee that's on some pirated website you can
Adam K: watch right now with someone laughing during the entire
Adam K: movie, sitting in front of you, and probably like a gambling URL
Adam K: in the bottom left corner, but people are still going to pay
Adam K: for stuff regardless.
Adam K: It's there's that barrier to
Adam K: entry of like the whole thing
Adam K: was if you make something more
Adam K: convenient than Napster and you
Adam K: hide it from Google search
Adam K: results, people are going to pay
Adam K: for it.
Adam K: So yeah, people can make these
Adam K: AI slop Seinfeld videos until
Adam K: the end of time, but they they
Adam K: won't hurt Jerry's bank account
Adam K: at all.
Aaron: Now, and he'll continue to think that Palestine doesn't exist.
Adam K: What's the deal with Palestine?
Aaron: What's the deal with the forsaken people?
Adam K: Yeah, much like a lot of comedians.
Adam K: I'm great at not reading the room, too, so.
Aaron: It's the ultimate expression of fuck you money.
Aaron: It's really it's it's, uh, genocide.
Aaron: Money is
Adam K: Oh.
Aaron: what you.
Aaron: That's the elevated version of fuck you money.
Aaron: It's it's mass genocide.
Aaron: Sorry.
Adam K: You're.
Aaron: I'm looking at this this model.
Aaron: I'm trying to see if it's censored or not.
Adam K: Wait, you're using it?
Aaron: No. Well, I'm trying to find some site that that hosts it and
Aaron: some rapper that's, you know, so I don't have to deal with comfy
Aaron: right now, but I'll just deal with this later.
Adam K: Yeah. I found the best way to test this stuff is you.
Adam K: You just give.
Adam K: You just buy credits on comfy.
Adam K: They have like a cloud version.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: And then you can download workflows that use API access
Adam K: and it just connects that way.
Adam K: And then that way you can just you run it on some other server,
Adam K: you know, you, you can, I think they have like a meter that
Adam K: shows the water draining from their local neighborhood.
Aaron: Nice.
Adam K: It shows the amount of children you killed, um, with your, your
Adam K: AI generated video.
Adam K: But um, with that, yes, you can make your own Seinfeld videos.
Adam K: I just remember what was it, twenty nineteen, twenty twenty
Adam K: when you were trying to make your evil Star Trek video?
Aaron: That was, uh, twenty eighteen.
Adam K: Yeah, I still, I think I have that somewhere.
Aaron: I just can't like, I don't like
Aaron: saying that I'm a visionary and
Aaron: I'm ahead of my time genius and
Aaron: all that other stuff, but
Aaron: really, I all those things were
Aaron: true.
Aaron: I was developing this thing before with technology that was
Aaron: so, so infantile.
Aaron: If I had only waited eight years.
Adam K: But you've you've kind of had
Adam K: your finger somewhat on the
Adam K: pulse.
Adam K: Like I wasn't following any of the deep fake stuff
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: at all.
Adam K: Um, and you were like on top of it and you're like it only with
Adam K: all this work that I do, after two weeks, I get two point five
Adam K: seconds of content.
Adam K: I was like, this is dumb.
Aaron: Crazy for a little while.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: It was, uh, really, Covid was such a saving grace because it
Aaron: kind of masked this deep spiral I was going into.
Aaron: And and once everyone else was
Aaron: in a spiral, you don't stand out
Aaron: as much.
Aaron: And then as everyone kind of
Aaron: stayed in it, I lifted out of
Aaron: it.
Aaron: So.
Adam K: It's just funny.
Adam K: Like, because like when Stable Diffusion was at one point five
Adam K: came out and I was like, oh, what is this?
Adam K: This is cool.
Adam K: Like you and I were messing with it and we didn't know how to use
Adam K: any of the settings.
Adam K: I think we try to make like Clint Eastwood doing something
Adam K: or we made some like Budweiser ad is just utter shit images and
Adam K: we're laughing like, hahaha.
Adam K: And then like that stuff.
Adam K: That was four years ago,
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: roughly.
Adam K: And it's just insane to see like how fast it's progressed.
Adam K: But again, too, it's like if
Adam K: you're not following it week to
Adam K: week, it it is, it just becomes
Adam K: like whiplash.
Adam K: So it's just funny to think like
Adam K: starting with this tool, trying
Adam K: to do like a deepfake face
Adam K: transfer.
Adam K: Now it's like, well, Google made
Adam K: a model that can just swap it
Adam K: out for you and it's more
Adam K: perfect than anything you could
Adam K: ever do.
Adam K: Uh, with all the after effects
Adam K: classes you could take in the
Adam K: world.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: So it
Aaron: Well,
Adam K: really makes you feel like shit.
Aaron: yeah.
Aaron: That's good.
Aaron: I think maybe there is some
Aaron: validity to being a, an Indian
Aaron: robot operator.
Aaron: And maybe ethically it's not bad.
Aaron: What if it if it's giving jobs
Aaron: to people who normally wouldn't
Aaron: have jobs, provided they have an
Aaron: internet connection and
Aaron: electricity, which they don't
Aaron: always have.
Aaron: But, um, like I'm thinking
Aaron: about, so I have friends who do
Aaron: therapy and they get the cheap
Aaron: therapy that it's, uh, it's
Aaron: mostly Indian therapists that,
Aaron: uh, you know, so they have to
Aaron: have their therapy sessions at
Aaron: like nine p m at night and
Aaron: stuff.
Aaron: But like, but, uh, it's giving all these jobs to, to people,
Aaron: you know, it's a great, uh, there's equitable, uh, equitable
Aaron: jobs for people, uh, that weren't there before.
Aaron: And if that also applies to
Aaron: slave robots that, you know,
Aaron: wander around the house and
Aaron: really there's getting Intel on
Aaron: you.
Aaron: But if they, like, do the dishes and all that stuff and it opens
Aaron: up jobs and who cares?
Adam K: Is your thought.
Adam K: If you start thinking and
Adam K: talking like a billionaire, that
Adam K: they will accept you as their
Adam K: own.
Aaron: Uh, well, one of the things I
Aaron: learned from this Indian
Aaron: therapist is that you need to
Aaron: manifest.
Aaron: And so really, and she, she didn't realize that manifesting
Aaron: that I turn it into a thing that would trap her people forever.
Aaron: And it's weird, like, you know, that's the twist in the story.
Aaron: So I'm manifesting having robots
Aaron: that are powered by unemployed
Aaron: Indian therapists.
Aaron: Yeah.
Aaron: I'm just sorry.
Aaron: I'm I'm digging through these Seinfeld clips still.
Adam K: You see the one where he's.
Adam K: He swole.
Adam K: They're all swole.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: And I it got a laugh out of me just because the joke was Jerry
Adam K: Seinfeld, I think Elaine says, like I ripped the phone book
Adam K: apart this morning.
Adam K: Jerry goes, how'd you find a phone book?
Adam K: I was like, that.
Adam K: Got
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: a chuckle out of me
Aaron: That
Adam K: that
Aaron: minutia.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: I like.
Adam K: It threw me off.
Adam K: I was like, shit, I just laughed at this completely fake thing.
Adam K: Well, I don't know.
Adam K: I get sent stuff all the time
Adam K: where it's very clearly fake and
Adam K: staged and I that's hard for me
Adam K: to enjoy.
Adam K: Like someone's like, uh, look at this prank I played on my son
Adam K: and it's someone watching, you know, the film three hundred and
Adam K: it's, it's clearly staged.
Adam K: And I'm just like, well, that takes me out of it.
Adam K: But for whatever reason, that Seinfeld Swoll Seinfeld thing
Adam K: got a laugh out of me, maybe because it didn't feel staged.
Aaron: Maybe ultimately, because it's
Aaron: such a simple world that we're
Aaron: so familiar with that it's just
Aaron: easier.
Aaron: Like there's nothing there's no backstory really.
Aaron: There's no like anything complicated.
Aaron: It's ripe in its, in its
Aaron: simplicity for, you know, you
Aaron: just
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: throw any kind of situation in there.
Adam K: Yeah, I, I. It's every time I know we, we send these clips
Adam K: back and forth and it's like, I feel like you and I have got a
Adam K: pretty good read on things typically, but more and more
Adam K: it's been popping up where you're like, is this real?
Adam K: I don't know.
Aaron: I know.
Adam K: Yeah. Um, you so you know, that
Adam K: that shot I used in my video of
Adam K: Mitch McConnell licking his
Adam K: lips,
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: that was entirely by hand.
Adam K: No AI was used in that.
Adam K: I
Aaron: See
Adam K: was very.
Aaron: who says.
Aaron: Who says that?
Aaron: They're still not crass people in the world.
Adam K: Uh, it was one of those things
Adam K: where it was simpler because for
Adam K: whatever reason, on envato, they
Adam K: had these keyed out lips licking
Adam K: themselves.
Adam K: And Adobe makes it pretty easy to match color on.
Adam K: You know, someone's like blue lower face, but.
Aaron: Very blue.
Aaron: Purple outlined lips.
Adam K: Yeah. Turtle face.
Adam K: Um, I have been seeing the videos of him, of using minimax
Adam K: of their popping up, of Mitch McConnell be like, I'm fine.
Adam K: And then he just stares into the camera.
Adam K: Uh, but again, it's all just disinformation and we're all
Adam K: going to be fooled by it.
Adam K: And it doesn't matter because
Adam K: we'll just keep scrolling
Adam K: through TikTok.
Adam K: I'm, I'm not trying to be negative here.
Adam K: Please don't take that.
Adam K: Take that away from this conversation.
Adam K: I'm talking to my Indian AI therapist.
Aaron: This lady is super nice.
Aaron: I mean, she's not my therapist,
Aaron: but I've been like, I've, I, uh,
Aaron: I sat in one time to, you know,
Aaron: mostly just to complain, but,
Aaron: uh,
Adam K: The.
Aaron: from the few seconds I was there, it was nice.
Adam K: The thing that I always I read,
Adam K: you know, you see like Reddit
Adam K: comments or people writing an
Adam K: article about how AI is like
Adam K: sycophantic or whatever, how it
Adam K: just keeps telling you how good
Adam K: you are.
Adam K: I don't know how you are with
Adam K: that, but like, I hate that
Adam K: shit.
Adam K: Like if it, if it tries to like, praise me?
Adam K: I'm like, stop it or I don't believe it.
Adam K: So I don't think I've had that effect where I'm like, this chat
Adam K: bots, my best friend.
Adam K: I've always seen it as just a little, you know, worker bee.
Aaron: Really well.
Aaron: The problem is, is it was all trained on Reddit.
Aaron: So you're that's what you're
Aaron: going to get forever is you're
Aaron: just going to get like flimsy,
Aaron: weak gaslighting, gaslighting,
Aaron: but also subservient, uh, with
Aaron: like a little layer of
Aaron: aggression underneath
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: because it was all trained on Reddit.
Aaron: That's why I was thinking today.
Aaron: It almost, it does make sense why someone like an Elon Musk or
Aaron: whoever wants to train like a grok or something, because
Aaron: you're like, okay, I get it.
Aaron: He's trying to create a because if if all AI is just a Redditor,
Aaron: then we're in serious trouble.
Aaron: Not because like of the the progressiveness or liberalness.
Aaron: That's all fine.
Aaron: It's just Redditors are
Aaron: insufferable, terrible people
Aaron: and
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: you need some balance for that.
Aaron: But the balance, unfortunately,
Aaron: are funny, quick witted, racist
Aaron: trolls.
Adam K: I was going to say Twitter users or
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: fortune users.
Adam K: I yeah, I don't know.
Adam K: I always just go back to the,
Adam K: the part where I'm like, I, I
Adam K: think less human interaction
Adam K: might be better for a lot of us
Adam K: maybe.
Aaron: No, it's already going down.
Aaron: I think that's how we got here.
Adam K: Oh yeah.
Adam K: Well, when it's all artificial though, when you're, you're
Adam K: having arguments with a stranger halfway across the world who may
Adam K: or may not be real.
Adam K: Uh, I feel like that does something to the psyche.
Adam K: It you lose nuance and then you
Adam K: just you have people being
Adam K: weirdos.
Aaron: We need more.
Aaron: Third spaces is what we need.
Adam K: What's
Aaron: But
Adam K: a third
Aaron: unfortunately,
Adam K: space?
Aaron: third space is where it's like a place that you can hang out and
Aaron: either spend no money or not very much money.
Aaron: A bowling alley used to be kind of like that for bowling alleys.
Aaron: Got expensive or like technically a shopping mall or,
Aaron: you know, uh, a public park would be it, but, you know, like
Aaron: indoor spaces as well.
Aaron: And the disappearance of those is one theory of leading to like
Aaron: the, the isolationism that people are experiencing now and
Adam K: MM.
Aaron: the lack of community.
Aaron: But, uh, really in America, the more third spaces that you
Aaron: create, the more mass shootings.
Aaron: But,
Adam K: MM.
Aaron: you know, whatever.
Adam K: I'm getting buzz on your end.
Adam K: Are you?
Adam K: Is your phone next to your microphone?
Aaron: You still hear it.
Adam K: It comes in now usually when you're talking.
Aaron: I'm just.
Aaron: I'm buzzing.
Aaron: Oh.
Adam K: Yeah. It's fine.
Adam K: Maybe if you hung out in your
Adam K: third space more often, but also
Adam K: like.
Adam K: So your first place and your second place is your house.
Aaron: No. My second place is the university.
Adam K: All right.
Adam K: That's.
Aaron: My third place is the university Bar.
Aaron: That.
Aaron: And that's only because the beer is cheap.
Aaron: It's not like I'm hanging out there like, hey, what are you
Aaron: what are you studying?
Aaron: And they're like, get away, old man.
Adam K: You know, back in my day, books cost eighty dollars instead of
Adam K: one hundred and twenty.
Aaron: Back in my day, books had nudies in them.
Aaron: We just read the Nudies.
Adam K: Well, for me, then my first and second place.
Adam K: And I guess sometimes my third place is my house.
Aaron: Yeah. No. That's true.
Adam K: Like, my first place is the right side of my desk, which is
Adam K: where I work all day.
Adam K: And then my second place is the left side of my desk where I
Adam K: play video games.
Adam K: And then my third place is probably the couch where I watch
Adam K: Seinfeld I videos.
Aaron: That reminds me.
Aaron: I need to, uh.
Aaron: I need to go do some work, uh, right
Adam K: Real
Aaron: now,
Adam K: or fake work?
Aaron: uh, some some work that's, uh,
Aaron: about nothing is what I need to
Aaron: do.
Adam K: Well, let
Aaron: I
Adam K: me
Aaron: need.
Adam K: I want to I wanted to get your thoughts on this real question
Adam K: because I was
Aaron: Okay.
Adam K: sending you some of those AI like animated scene things and
Adam K: like they're all parts from, you know, a book we wrote.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: If we were able to hire an artist, a real life artist and
Adam K: ensure they're not using AI.
Adam K: Um, and we can have them, we commission them to draw scenes
Adam K: from, from the book.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: And then I go and then again,
Adam K: pay an original artist to do
Adam K: this stuff.
Adam K: And then I feed those images
Adam K: into this animator thing to make
Adam K: like a book trailer that we just
Adam K: put on the Amazon page or the
Adam K: website.
Adam K: Is that ethical or is that is there a problem there?
Aaron: I think it's okay if you.
Aaron: Because essentially what you're asking for are storyboards and
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: you're saying if you are just
Aaron: completely transparent with it,
Aaron: then you're going to get plenty
Aaron: of people who are like, no, fuck
Aaron: this.
Aaron: Like I, you know, pay me to animate.
Aaron: But if you're like, look, I can't pay you to animate, but I
Aaron: can pay you for the storyboarding for your original
Aaron: art credit you as the artist.
Aaron: Well, because you know, some people who are, you know,
Aaron: artists that draw like that, they're not animators, you know,
Aaron: they don't they don't do that.
Aaron: Or
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: they would have to do it by hand.
Aaron: Old school wise, which you wouldn't do anyway.
Aaron: So I think ultimately you just have to be transparent.
Aaron: And then if you do create a trailer from it, then you
Aaron: credit, you know, the person say, this is the person who made
Aaron: these designs and, you know, essentially made this trailer
Aaron: pay them what you can.
Aaron: And then I don't know what else there is, you know, to.
Adam K: Yeah, well, just my, my thought
Adam K: is like, yeah, I cannot pay an
Adam K: animator.
Adam K: And animation is very expensive.
Adam K: Traditional animation, especially if I could, if I had
Adam K: unlimited funds, it's like I would, I would hire the studio
Adam K: that made Mars Express, which is a great movie actually.
Adam K: You should check it out.
Adam K: It's it like I, I wish they could make a rook film.
Adam K: That would be my dream and it would just be for me.
Adam K: I don't care about box office returns or any of that bullshit.
Adam K: It's just like, man, this is like their vision of the world
Adam K: is like how I'm like, oh, that's how I saw the book.
Adam K: That's so great.
Adam K: I would love to see this thing come to life.
Adam K: Um, at the same time too.
Adam K: Like I totally get the ethical
Adam K: dilemma of using any sort of
Adam K: artificial intelligence in
Adam K: creating something that's
Adam K: artistic.
Adam K: At the same time, the story was completely Original.
Adam K: I don't think ChatGPT was even
Adam K: a. Maybe it was an early
Adam K: version.
Adam K: We didn't know about it.
Adam K: Everything we wrote about AI was stuff we were reading in, you
Adam K: know, science journals.
Adam K: Um, it wasn't never in my
Adam K: wildest dreams did I think it
Adam K: was going to replace any sort of
Adam K: creative that
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: never seemed realistic.
Adam K: And now we're here and it's like, oh, well, I'm glad we got
Adam K: the book in before and there could be any, like, you know,
Adam K: anything accusing us of just having a robot write the book?
Adam K: Like, no, we, we hired our cheap labor on Fiverr like everyone
Adam K: else, at least
Aaron: I guess
Adam K: the.
Aaron: everything was hired for that.
Aaron: I mean, the illustrations, the editor, the everything.
Adam K: Well, like you found Caleb on Reddit.
Adam K: He had a
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: post and you're like, this guy's awesome.
Adam K: Should we reach out to him?
Adam K: Yeah.
Adam K: Cool.
Adam K: And
Aaron: No,
Adam K: then.
Aaron: I think I said something like, it'd be cool if we could have
Aaron: art like this for the thing.
Aaron: And then
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: I think you were like, why don't you just reach out?
Aaron: And I was like, yeah, why
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: don't I?
Adam K: No, I think your exact words were it would be so cool if
Adam K: there was an algorithm that can look at his art style, copy it,
Adam K: and then we
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: just type in the words that we want.
Adam K: And then also, you can like, shit on his family.
Aaron: That does sound more like something I said.
Adam K: Yeah. Um, and then Rebecca was
Adam K: someone you knew that was like a
Adam K: publishing friend of yours who
Adam K: said, I want nothing to do with
Adam K: your book.
Adam K: Um, but here's an editor who can help you.
Aaron: Yeah, actually, I think that is true too.
Adam K: The only person I think we hired was squab from
Aaron: Oh,
Adam K: Fiverr.
Aaron: yes.
Adam K: Yeah, he tried putting his name in the credits.
Aaron: Executive producer squab.
Adam K: I remember he said he's like, here it is.
Adam K: Everything's perfect.
Adam K: Very first thing.
Adam K: Edited by squab and squab.
Aaron: It's like bigger than the the the.
Aaron: Written by.
Adam K: Mhm. Yeah. And then it had a weird length.
Adam K: I went to a crypto wallet.
Adam K: It was weird.
Adam K: But
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: again, this is this is what happens when you you hire
Adam K: strangers on the internet.
Adam K: So.
Aaron: I think I remember saying, I appreciate his audacity.
Aaron: And
Adam K: I
Aaron: I
Adam K: just,
Aaron: did, and I still do.
Adam K: I just, I, it would be funny for
Adam K: anyone to be reading the book
Adam K: like, man, this thing is
Adam K: collated perfectly.
Adam K: Who did this squab?
Adam K: I'm going to look this man up.
Adam K: Delete.
Aaron: Launches Squabs career.
Adam K: I mean, he he's probably doing better than either one of us.
Adam K: That's my guess.
Aaron: Mhm.
Adam K: So anywho, uh, so I'm, I'm not
Adam K: going to write anything for the
Adam K: blog this week since I put up
Adam K: the video.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Um, and then I'll make it live on YouTube on Monday.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Um.
Aaron: Because the YouTube, uh, is dying.
Adam K: Is
Aaron: It's
Adam K: it.
Aaron: it's losing a thousand subs a month.
Adam K: That's fine.
Aaron: I don't know if it is, but.
Adam K: Look, if you want subs, you gotta like enable comments and
Adam K: interact with people and get into the algorithm.
Adam K: If that's what you want, you can have it.
Adam K: But that's going to kill my drive to make anything.
Aaron: No, I think that it's, uh, videos just have to.
Aaron: They they can't be unlisted.
Aaron: That's the only that's the thing.
Aaron: It doesn't matter.
Aaron: The comments thing doesn't matter.
Aaron: Whatever.
Adam K: Why only
Aaron: It just.
Adam K: make them unlisted for a week?
Aaron: Yeah, yeah.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: And then the it needs some shorts to get floating around.
Aaron: So.
Adam K: Yeah. I, well, I mean, I put up that one of me playing Halo.
Adam K: I don't know if you saw that.
Aaron: The one playing Halo, the short.
Adam K: I put up a short over the weekend so I installed there's a
Adam K: new I call it new Halo.
Adam K: But they remade Halo again.
Aaron: Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: yeah yeah I
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: see.
Adam K: I was playing around with it and I was like, again, this is this
Adam K: always happens it with like a rushed video game.
Adam K: You can just move characters by walking into them.
Adam K: I was like, I wonder if I can
Adam K: get this, this Captain Keys
Adam K: character to the end of the
Adam K: mission, and it was just getting
Adam K: too long.
Adam K: So I pushed him into the fire.
Adam K: And then it's like it just warped me back to the beginning
Adam K: of the game.
Adam K: It's like you've gone crazy.
Adam K: I'm like, this is broken.
Adam K: How did you not hire a game tester for this?
Adam K: My God.
Adam K: Or they did, and they just didn't care.
Adam K: That's probably more likely what it is.
Adam K: But
Aaron: They had to ship it and they had no time.
Adam K: there is a game coming out.
Adam K: Uh, I believe it's called war fantasy.
Adam K: There was a trailer for it, remember?
Adam K: Because you and I were talking about trying to pitch like a
Adam K: Call of Duty game years ago.
Adam K: Um, and this one's pretty cool.
Adam K: I'll send it to you, but it's called war fantasy.
Adam K: It's an ex Call of Duty developer, and I, it's like
Adam K: you're a kid playing a Call of Duty game called War Fantasy.
Adam K: And it's like merging with reality.
Adam K: So it's this, this sort of like
Adam K: liminal backrooms type space
Adam K: thing.
Adam K: Uh, but it's mixed with like the Call of Duty aesthetic.
Adam K: And I'm like, I love this.
Adam K: This is great.
Adam K: This is a great way to flip the whole thing on its head.
Adam K: Um, but that's like, that's what needs to be made.
Adam K: So that got me excited.
Aaron: We'll send it.
Adam K: I will, and then I want I sent you that one game too.
Adam K: You didn't respond.
Adam K: I was like, I think you would actually enjoy this one.
Adam K: I forgot it was called do you
Aaron: Uh.
Adam K: remember?
Adam K: Did you even look at it instead
Adam K: of sending me rear window PS1
Adam K: graphics.
Aaron: Uh, probably looked at it, and then I thought, I don't have
Aaron: time to play games anymore.
Aaron: Here's, uh, no, that's a podcast.
Aaron: Mousepad.
Adam K: Democracy. Democracy.
Adam K: Manifest.
Aaron: Oh, yeah.
Aaron: I looked at that game, um, where you're, you're having to submit
Aaron: proposals for laws and, and try and like get the best law
Aaron: proposed and negotiate.
Aaron: And I was like, I was like, I'm not stoned enough to look to go
Aaron: forward with this.
Adam K: It just it looks so mundane and silly and dumb.
Adam K: I was like, oh, Aaron might like this.
Adam K: I
Aaron: Now
Adam K: like the
Aaron: I'm
Adam K: art style
Aaron: more interested
Adam K: too.
Aaron: in this game I saw today it was
Aaron: called a it's set in the
Aaron: nineteen nineties in Poland, and
Aaron: you're trying to renovate your
Aaron: apartment.
Aaron: And the thing is, is like you
Aaron: don't have any money and there's
Aaron: no stores and there's no
Aaron: supplies.
Aaron: So like you to change your couch out, you just throw the couch
Aaron: out the window and then you.
Aaron: I think you steal someone else's couch or one just appears.
Aaron: But like when you move the couch, there's like a huge blood
Aaron: spot on the floor that you don't know what to do with.
Aaron: So you got to cover it up with another couch.
Aaron: And then like when you're tiling the, the, the wall, the tiles
Aaron: are, they're all from the trash and they don't like quite stay
Aaron: on the wall.
Aaron: Right.
Aaron: And yeah, that's what I'm interested in.
Adam K: I wish more games were like that.
Adam K: I ever tell you my my pitch for Duke Nukem.
Aaron: Now.
Adam K: So you know the the game, right?
Adam K: It's 90s badass guy.
Adam K: Just.
Aaron: I came to kick ass and chew bubble gum.
Adam K: Exactly. Yeah. Just rips off, you know?
Aaron: Yeah. They live.
Aaron: Yep.
Adam K: Yeah. Anything basically.
Adam K: I mean, I think he says, hail to the king, baby.
Adam K: All this stuff.
Adam K: Anyway, when they were like, announced they like bought the
Adam K: or they were like making a sequel and it failed.
Adam K: And then like gearbox bought it and they were like, going to
Adam K: bring it back to life.
Adam K: I was like, man, I wish they had
Adam K: some self-awareness of how lame
Adam K: Duke Nukem is or just how he
Adam K: doesn't, doesn't belong in
Adam K: today's world.
Adam K: So it's like if you made a sequel, it should be like you
Adam K: start off with that first mission where he's all badass
Adam K: and cool, and then it hard cuts to him at the convention center
Adam K: and his lines not very long.
Adam K: And he's like, he's taking photos for with fans for fifty
Adam K: bucks or whatever.
Adam K: And it's just he's overweight and, you know, he's got alimony
Adam K: just because he he like settled down, but he shouldn't have.
Adam K: He settled down with a stripper
Adam K: that he got pregnant and like,
Adam K: that's the game I want to play
Adam K: of that.
Adam K: And then then you have his like
Adam K: return to form, um, throughout
Adam K: the game.
Adam K: Like he, you actually have like
Adam K: a redemption arc where he like,
Adam K: he becomes badass again, but he
Adam K: earns it.
Adam K: But anyway, that will never exist.
Aaron: I could have sworn I pitched you
Aaron: a Duke Nukem game that was
Aaron: somewhat similar, but it was
Aaron: him.
Aaron: Like him dealing with his divorce the entire time.
Aaron: Like, I swear I pitched that to you.
Aaron: I want to say that you stole my idea.
Adam K: Not, not even close.
Adam K: Because
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: I, I, I had this, I'm pretty sure I, I had this idea back in
Adam K: like two thousand and nine.
Aaron: I had mine in two thousand.
Aaron: That's when I first had it.
Aaron: I was
Adam K: Okay.
Aaron: playing Duke Nukem 3D Total Meltdown.
Adam K: You just googled that.
Aaron: No, I had that game.
Adam K: I've actually never played a
Adam K: Duke Nukem more than like a
Adam K: level.
Adam K: It just it didn't.
Adam K: A friend of mine had it.
Adam K: He's like, you know, if you give
Adam K: the strippers money, they show
Adam K: their boobs.
Adam K: And like, those don't look like boobs.
Adam K: Even then they were it was bad
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: anyway.
Adam K: Well, I think you and I probably
Adam K: just had the same idea or
Adam K: similar ideas, and I. I wish we
Adam K: could find someone willing to
Adam K: take a risk on that and actually
Adam K: make something like original and
Adam K: exciting that like that has
Adam K: moments to breathe, you know,
Adam K: but like, I would love a level
Adam K: where he has to go to the
Adam K: divorce lawyer's office or he's
Adam K: got to deliver the alimony
Adam K: check.
Aaron: But he's like, he's just there's constantly there's pig aliens
Aaron: floating outside the window.
Aaron: And he's just like, every time he's trying to deal with his
Aaron: contract, he's just like, damn.
Adam K: Well,
Aaron: And
Adam K: I
Aaron: he's.
Adam K: think
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: I think the pig aliens are like,
Adam K: they should represent like the
Adam K: woke culture that he hates so
Adam K: much.
Adam K: You know, I hate using that term because it's overused and it's
Adam K: just this kind of catch all dogwhistle thing or whatever.
Adam K: But like, he, he wouldn't.
Adam K: But just the idea is that, well, no, now we as a society have
Adam K: accepted the pigs and they're just but they're still rude and
Adam K: they're, they just treat him like shit, but he can't do
Adam K: anything about it.
Aaron: They have blue hair and they work in HR.
Adam K: Yeah. He's like trying to order a meal at a like so one of the,
Adam K: one of the buttons, he goes through his pocket to see how
Adam K: much change he has.
Adam K: And he only has ninety seven cents.
Adam K: So he has to then go to a fast food restaurant and find
Adam K: something on the menu.
Adam K: Or he's got to like go through the trash and find a coupon.
Adam K: And these are all like just little mini games that he does.
Adam K: And so then he finally goes up and tries to buy it.
Adam K: But the pig with the blue hair
Adam K: is working at the cash register,
Adam K: and they won't look up from
Adam K: their, you know, futuristic
Adam K: tablet thing.
Adam K: And then he says something like, listen here, pig.
Adam K: And like, would you call me?
Adam K: And then it becomes this.
Adam K: And then they start filming him and then he, he ends up being,
Adam K: you know, he's like a Karen, like YouTube video.
Aaron: I want your manager.
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: Get me your manager.
Adam K: Yeah. Uh. Bitch ass.
Adam K: Dead ass.
Adam K: Karen.
Adam K: Balding.
Adam K: Overweight.
Adam K: Karen wants to speak to my manager.
Adam K: I wouldn't say lol.
Adam K: They say rofl or I don't know, look at UNC.
Aaron: Actually, that would be awesome if Duke Nukem had.
Aaron: He dawned on, like, the Karen Bob haircut in order to.
Aaron: In order to, like, get on the level with with these people,
Aaron: like he goes undercover and then he's just maybe he's just trans,
Aaron: I don't know, I don't know, I have to work on the the thing,
Aaron: but it starts with Duke Nukem with that haircut.
Aaron: And I think that works
Adam K: It's got.
Aaron: for me.
Adam K: It's got to be like The Incredibles.
Adam K: That moment where someone goes
Adam K: like, I have a job for you and
Adam K: he gets hired for it, but they,
Adam K: they think he's Master Chief or
Adam K: something else.
Adam K: They get a mix up with.
Adam K: Another has been.
Adam K: And then he shows up and like, oh, oh my God, I'm so sorry.
Adam K: Who are you?
Adam K: And then but then, then yes, he gets a he takes a job, like with
Adam K: the CIA, but he has to go undercover as a woman.
Adam K: And
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: then yeah, he gets like, fondled and he finally he understands
Adam K: what it's like.
Adam K: Yeah.
Adam K: He gained some empathy for all the women.
Aaron: Duke
Adam K: Uh.
Aaron: Nukem in that wig while some
Aaron: guy's grabbing his pussy and
Aaron: he's crying
Adam K: Mhm.
Aaron: would just be so amazing.
Adam K: Yeah. The objectives go to the bathroom and cry and reflect on
Adam K: your life choices.
Aaron: Yeah. I came here to cry and
Aaron: chew bubble gum, and I'm all out
Aaron: of gum.
Adam K: It's like, seriously, you use
Adam K: the my summer car engine for
Adam K: this?
Adam K: Like, shooting in this game
Adam K: should only be the last two
Adam K: minutes.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Like that's it.
Adam K: There's almost no action in this.
Adam K: It's all mini games like mowing the lawn.
Adam K: Um, yeah, it should be VR.
Adam K: You should experience it from Duke's perspective.
Aaron: Duke Nukem my summer off.
Aaron: Yeah. That's the game I'd play.
Aaron: Maybe you should just be.
Aaron: It should combine this Polish
Aaron: renovation simulator with Duke
Aaron: Nukem, where he's just trying
Aaron: to.
Aaron: He's trying to make his divorce dad apartment.
Aaron: He just moved into, like, livable.
Aaron: But he's got no money.
Aaron: And, like, basically the the countdown is like his kids going
Aaron: to visit in a few days.
Aaron: No, no, no, the caseworker is going to visit in a few days.
Aaron: And if it doesn't look like a
Aaron: eleven year old kid can spend
Aaron: the weekend there, then you lose
Aaron: the game.
Adam K: I that's because what you could
Adam K: do there too is you have a timer
Adam K: and then
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: there's no real instructions on how
Aaron: No.
Adam K: to make the apartment look nice,
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: but you can interact with every object.
Adam K: And so and then again, it's like
Adam K: the maybe it's like there is
Adam K: some secret combo, but more
Adam K: likely than not, it doesn't
Adam K: matter.
Adam K: Um, because they, they find all
Adam K: like his sex toys, like in the
Adam K: closet
Aaron: Well, there's
Adam K: or.
Aaron: like, you know, like randomly strippers or someone will knock
Aaron: on your door and they'll be like, Duke, we have a baby, you
Aaron: know, or whatever, whatever.
Aaron: And you're trying, you're hoping that that doesn't happen when
Aaron: the caseworker comes by,
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: you know,
Adam K: Or
Aaron: that'll ruin
Adam K: it's,
Aaron: everything.
Adam K: it's like a schlubby millennial,
Adam K: you know, forty something fan
Adam K: who's like, like I found you
Adam K: like, or, you know, or he's like
Adam K: mad because he paid him on
Adam K: cameo, but Duke never made the
Adam K: video.
Adam K: He's like, you motherfucker.
Adam K: And he starts quoting all the things.
Adam K: He's like, I told you to say,
Adam K: I'm the king, baby and all
Adam K: saying all this like
Adam K: misogynistic stuff.
Adam K: And the caseworkers just watching like, okay.
Adam K: And he's.
Adam K: And Duke's like, What did you
Adam K: write down on your your pad
Adam K: there?
Adam K: Uh, I want this to exist.
Aaron: I'm going to send you this.
Aaron: This.
Aaron: I have the link fresh because I sent it to you.
Aaron: Uh, someone on the Polish team that that does video design.
Aaron: And I said, uh, what did I tell them?
Aaron: I said, I'm not sure if this is offensive or hilarious, but this
Aaron: is this game I found.
Adam K: Uh.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Well
Aaron: I'm gonna
Adam K: done.
Aaron: send this to you.
Adam K: All right, all right, well, I need to go.
Adam K: I'm going to get this video up.
Adam K: I gotta catch a train in a little bit.
Aaron: Okay. Where are you at?
Adam K: I'm at home.
Aaron: Oh. All right.
Adam K: I'm back.
Adam K: I just I gotta catch a train.
Adam K: We have public transportation here.
Adam K: I have places to go.
Aaron: I know I've been on it.
Aaron: It sucks.
Aaron: Uh,
Adam K: Yeah.
Aaron: okay.
Aaron: I'm sending you this Polish apartment renovator simulator.
Adam K: I'll check it out.
Adam K: Thank you so much for that.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: All right.
Adam K: I'll talk to you later.
Aaron: All right.
Aaron: Yeah.
Adam K: Bye.
